Always been a fan of The Cars in general and Ric Ocasek's songwriting in particular. This is a stellar album. Lyrics from the opening track cut deep these days "America, Nobody's getting off; We're all in this together, America; Nobody's getting off, It must be now or never". #vinyl #nowspinning

It was a tragedy, it was inevitable, and it was all part of their plan. Now they can pour more gasoline on the fire while at the same time the talking heads of the media cycle remind us that 'violence is never acceptable' while violence is being perpetrated against the most vulnerable every day.

Punk Song-A-Day #279: Dead Milkmen - Violent School. I'm hoping to score the 40th Anniversary pressing of Big Lizard this Friday for RSD but I'm not about to get up at 6am or anything crazy. If it happens it happens. youtu.be/AHOioPBmPS0?... #punk

I worked a tech support job with this dude like 25+ years ago. This is his new song (he does something that can only be described as Nerd Rock) and it is very on-point. youtu.be/d0IGeB6LxWo?...

This double live album from a show in 1985 was released earlier this year (or possibly late 2024?) and YES it was a cash grab and YES I bought it anyway. #vinyl #nowspinning

Guess I'm dusting this off now. To be honest I thought Jimmy Cliff had already passed. R.I.P. "The oppressors are trying to keep me down, trying to drive me underground, and they think they have got the battle won, I say forgive them Lord, they no not what they've done." #musicsky #nowplaying

This album doesn't have great reviews online. Not the songs or the band but this live recording from 1978 is described as being 'bootleg quality'. Seems OK to me. I'm happy. Just like The Rezillos, who were always more happy fun than some of their peers at the time. #vinyl #nowspinning

Punk Song-A-Day #277: The Rezillos - Top of the Pops. My score at Grooves today was The Rezillos live album 'Mission Accomplished... But The Beat Goes On.' I'll give the full thing a listen tomorrow, for now they get today's track pick. youtu.be/qIcj-qDxUzE?... #punk

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

Hit Grooves Wortley on our way back from dropping spawn at the dorm and a Costco run. Someone had just unloaded a bunch of 4AD releases. Sad for them. Happy for us. This filled a hole in the better half's collection. #vinyl #nowspinning

Punk Song-A-Day #276: Scratch Acid - Mary Had a Little Drug Problem. Speed City had the Scratch Acid Box Set in their used bins on Friday. Limited Edition of 2000. All 4 albums pressed on clear vinyl. I just couldn't justify the price. I'm kicking myself now. youtu.be/4ULEdk2rIkY?... #punk

Pulling this one out like so many others today. I can't find my bucket hat. It would still fit. No way I could squeeze into those old baggy jeans. I didn't even realize Mani was sick. RIP. "Are we etched in stone or just scratched in sand, waiting for the waves to come and reclaim the land?"
