I'm not her biggest fan either, but this was a solid book.

I rewatched this movie recently after having not seen it in decades and it was even better than I remembered. Some movies age badly, but MIRACLE MILE keeps finding new ways to reveal how ahead of its time it was.

"MIRACLE MILE is about many things — romance and Los Angeles and the looming threat of nuclear devastation at the close of the Cold War — but also, obsessively, it’s about marking the passage of time."

I love the packaging of this special edition book by PigOut and Corso Przemek. Just lovely work all around. I might have to pick this one up.
A book that looks like an 80s VHS tape in a slipcase that looks like a VHS slipcase. At a quick glance, it doesn't even look like a book at all.

I think a lot about the fact that Dana Carvey was filming THE MASTER OF DISGUISE on September 11, 2001, and when the crew got together for a group prayer, Carvey was holding hands looking like this:

(Sorry for not doing alt-text. It's a picture of Dana Carvey dressed as a human turtle from the movie. He's wearing a large green suit that is shaped like a turtle shell, and his bald head is sticking out.)

I'm beginning to suspect that even if they achieve all of their mad fever dreams to turn the country into a Christian utopia (whatever that is), they'll still be mad.

I know there are a lot of reasons to detest MAGA supporters, but the thing that always gets me is how angry they are.

Republicans are in charge of EVERYTHING. They won. And they're still angry, still complaining about the people who lost.

At what point will you start enjoying America?

I keep telling my wife that we’d be happier having an owl in our home, and this kind of story helps my case.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Nice work, Rob. Though the whole video reminded me of how much I miss the Tampa Theater. One of my favorite places.

5) Pay the difference without any interest.

And that, kids, is how I paid off a 30-year mortgage in 15 years.

1) Get a home mortgage in another currency (in my case, Swiss Franc).

2) Find out your bank was overcharging you by tens of thousands of Polish zloty due to conversion rates.

3) Sue the bank and wait four years.

4) A judge rules in your favor and cancels the loan.

Haven't read it since it came out as a monthly. I credit the series for opening my eyes to @1moregaryfrank.bsky.social's amazing art.

If the hologram has to be inside the box, then be smart about it. Do Spock at the end of STAR TREK II so the rest of us can take turns being Captain Kirk.

"I designed the hologram like you asked, boss."

"Great!"

"You can now have an awkward conversation with Stan Lee as if he were trapped inside a soda fridge at a 7-11 like God intended it."

Ever wondered what Florida pharmacies looked like in 1998 when Viagra made its debut?

Friend, this is the thread you've been waiting for...

All right, Alex. The buildup for Viagra (in Florida) was pretty insane. Pfizer drug reps had been promoting it to doctors and pharmacists for months before it came out. We had so much Viagra swag! Doctors were in competition for free cars to whoever could write the most scripts. (1/?)
