The brutal war that followed took the planet by surprise, and millions perished in a single year – but the nations of Skała fought against them tooth and nail, grinding Cézanne to a halt and pushing the front back into space. Slowly, surely, they gained ground, building towards a sweeping, multi-pronged offensive that cut through the colonies and toppled the fascist hegemon. The peace that followed was an uneasy one; the two nations that led the charge were bitter rivals, and their feuding over how to reshape Cézanne’s postwar state effectively split the colonies in two. Now, over half a century later, Stazja had been sent to Cézanne-Three, one of several O’Neill cylinders that called themselves the Free States of Cézanne. The political situation on Cé-3 had turned precarious; tensions had grown between the Free States and their erstwhile brethren in the Upspin Coalition, and the two nations now threatened to break into war. Emboldened by the fear and hatred of its citizens, Cé-3’s government had become the loudest voice to bay for blood, turning an increasingly authoritarian state towards military build-up."

The GM's planning a GQUX-inspired game and wants a lot of narrative time to marinate between combats, so we've been workshopping stuff to give that space more oomph. Our main addition thus far has been to try and hack in Hard-Wired Island's Burden system 🧑‍🍳

Pressure A hack of Hard Wired Island’s Burden mechanics for less Utopian settings in Lancer Pressure represents the precarity of your Lancer’s daily life. It is a rough indicator of how comfortably you can live and how badly you are getting by. Pressure goes from 0 to 4, and increases every time your PC gains a burden. When a PC heals a burden, it decreases by 1. At the beginning of play, your PC begins at 1 Pressure. They also start with a ten-segment burden which represents a current stressor on their life. This burden counts when calculating Pressure but is otherwise “extra”; do not count it towards your maximum burdens.

Can't help but notice the kickstarter page lists a Māori warfare game as well. Don't have the knowledge or lived experience to weigh on it but that last line in the advertisement blurb does feel like A Choice™️

Also read Dawnrunner, a short five-issue comic, and quite liked it! What started off to me as "oh hey Pacific Rim yippee" quickly turned into something very strange and interesting, loved it to bits. Also ngl I was very gay for the main character.

Rewatched Hunt for the Wilderpeople, forgot how much I loved it. A lil awkward in the wake of the Philips case, but the film is a really fun romp! Interesting tension of this darkness beneath the waters, and the main duo are so so good. Shame Taika has a cameo in it though.

Rewatched Adolescence of Utena! Man, what a beautiful movie, most iconic visuals of all time. I can find aspects of how esoteric and intertextually jumbled things can be more frustrating than engaging, but the final sequence is so good and I love how our girls get to lez out more.
