We learned our rights and the power of solidarity through our union.

Independent Know-Your-Rights training would ensure workers across Santa Clara County could protect themselves.

We're excited for the Board of Supervisors to continue moving forward to pass a Fast Food Fair Work law.

When our coworker confronted our boss about this and asked for more hours, the boss threatened to call immigration authorities.

Discrimination is illegal in the workplace, and it must end now! With support from @legalaidatwork.bsky.social, workers filed complaints w/the CA Civil Rights Department

“We don't give you hours because you're too old. If you don't like it, there's the door. We only want strong, young workers here." - this is what the boss said directly to one of us!

The schedule our coworker had for six years was cut from 35hrs/wk down to 16, and it stayed like this for years.

BREAKING: Workers at a KFC/TacoBell are on strike in Sunnyvale today due to discrimination and for threatening to report workers to ICE for challenging labor conditions.

After years of attacks, enough is enough.

The strength of Santa Clara County is our diversity and we won’t be silenced!

"Employers rely on fear and rely on this misinformation to silence their workers; informed workers are more confident, right? In standing up, reporting workplace abuses, and advocating for safer conditions." Our field coordinator Arnold Pena on the importance of passing #FastFoodFairWork laws

This year, we’ve seen the Trump Admin attack workers’ rights.

But there’s also been resistance.

Join @webuildprogress.bsky.social @newsguild.org @aft.org and our own Arnold Pena for a briefing today at noon on how the labor movement has been fighting back.

Today’s strike is in Ysabel Jurado’s district. We appreciate her support ensure all 50,000+ fast food workers in our city know they don’t have to work off the clock and look forward to the #FastFoodFairWork ordinance moving forward.

After joining our Union and learning about his rights, he's doing whatever it takes to stop wage theft at his store, and in every fast food restaurant in Los Angeles.
December 9, 2025 at 3:16 AM
Like many fast food workers, he was unaware of his right to be paid for all of his work- including missed rest breaks- and was afraid to speak up in fear of retaliation.

For five years, up to 12 hours a week, one of the workers at this Subway performed essential cleaning duties AFTER his shift and OFF the clock—mopping, scrubbing, and trash removal - without receiving any pay.
December 9, 2025 at 3:16 AM
BREAKING: A second Subway location in Los Angeles is on strike today. As the industry lobbies against legislation to ensure workers know our wage and hour laws, the wage theft crisis remains rampant in fast food restaurants across the city. 🧵

Today's strike is in Traci Parks district. It's crucial LA Lawmakers pass the Fast Food Fair Work Ordinance, which would ensure mandatory Know-Your-Rights training for all fast food workers in Los Angeles.

Wage theft in fast food is rampant, which is why joining together in a union is so important for workers like us. We learned our rights AND the power of solidarity!

“When I had to repay the check cashing place for 2 bounced paychecks at once (pay for 4 weeks of work!), I didn’t have money for September’s rent, my son and I were evicted, and we lost all our belongings when the van with what possessions we had left got stolen.”
December 9, 2025 at 12:22 AM
The company didn't resolve our issues after our first strike and we continued to be paid late or not at all, so we're keeping up the pressure.
December 9, 2025 at 12:22 AM
Upon attempting to deposit or cash paychecks, the checks have bounced. We believe that this issue isn’t limited to one store, but may also be affecting other Subway locations in Los Angeles owned by the same owner.

BREAKING: SUBWAY workers in Los Angeles are ON STRIKE after bosses have continuously failed to pay us hard-earned wages on time! One worker has filed for nearly $6000 in wages and penalties. 🧵

While customers in every district have supported us, the response from bosses has been tepid. Meanwhile the industry continues to lobby against this critical legislation.
December 4, 2025 at 1:20 AM
Since August when we launched the Constitutional Pledge to Protect California Workers’ Rights, our members have been talking to workers and management at fast food restaurants across Los Angeles in City Council Districts about the importance of the ordinance.

As we see a spike in COVID and the flu, these law trainings would ensure we understand that we don’t have to work while we are sick, helping us keep dangerous viruses out of the workplace and away from our customers.
December 4, 2025 at 1:20 AM
It’s the final month of 2025 and we’re making sure Los Angeles City Council understands the stakes for the 50,000+ fast food workers in our city.🧵

If McDonald's won't immediately transfer us to one of the nearby stores with openings, we'll ratchet up pressure on the California Fast Food Council to adopt rules STATEWIDE protecting fast food workers when employers sell, transfer or close their restaurants.

Last year workers organized a strike at this location due to a rat infestation.

First we organized a strike due to for the rodents scurrying around the store, now it's due to the rats in the c-suite closing the store without finding new jobs for long-term employees. www.kron4.com/news/bay-are...
