The apple harvest is underway in upstate NY. Reflective film is on the ground at many orchards to allow the apples to get extra sun. This can turn a warm day into a hot one for workers, as the sun’s rays are magnified and bounced onto the workers. #WeFeedYou

Teresa learned she has the right to fight back against wage theft through our Union - this is why the labor movement and community allies across the city have joined us to pass a #FastFoodFairWork law in Los Angeles.
cafastfoodunion.org
And still, she has NOT been paid for those days.
This sick time is legally protected under California law!
The bills do not wait; the rent does not wait. Teresa is about to lose her housing. No worker should be afraid of losing a roof over their head because our boss doesn't care to follow the rules

once for a medical procedure, and again when she suffered from facial paralysis. But neither of those times were paid out. That just scratches the surface…
Her brother recently died in the hospital, and she used her sick time to spend her final moments with him and then later to mourn…

Teresa has filed claims of over $30,000 in unpaid wages and penalties against Carl's Jr.
She's been a loyal, hard-working, and responsible worker at Carls Jr. for over twenty years, often working the graveyard shift.
She has only ever used sick time for real emergencies…
cafastfoodunion.org
A wage we fought for and won. That adds up to over a quarter of a billion dollars in the last six years.

This is why the industry is trying to stop us from knowing our rights.

Carl's Jr has also engaged in a campaign of retaliation and intimidation against union activists.

Today we marched on the boss at Carl's Jr. in Los Angeles to get one of our members what she’s owed: she’s files claimed of over $30,000 in unpaid wages and penalties.

Fast food workers in Los Angeles on average lose almost $3,500 a year, because employers are paying us below the minimum wage.

My nephew years ago - first job working of the Hamburglar:
The bathroom sewage backed up in the kitchen. Restaurant closed its doors BUT kept the drive through open. Those driving thru had no idea their server was standing in filth.

NEW: The Santa Clara County Office of Labor Standards Enforcement has released a report "Working Conditions of Restaurant Workers in Santa Clara County."

This report is further evidence that the BoS must waste no time in moving forward with the #FastFoodFairWork ordinance already moving.
The graphic that talks about the survey for Santa Clara County and says it exposes employer negligence The graphic with a worker within Union Flag wearing a McDonald's shirt , it says 25% of workers who report problems experience retaliation from their employer A graphic that says 66% report dangerous conditions at their jobs with a worker on a microphone from our union founding convention A graphic that says 85% of restaurant workers surveyed based at least one ever is working condition in the past year and a picture of a worker holding an on strike sign

BREAKING: Burger King workers are on strike in Oakland due to pregnancy discrimination.

The store cut our coworker’s hours because she is pregnant and asked for accommodations to ensure a safe pregnancy. 🧵

Our coworker’s hours have been restored because she knows her rights and we fight to ensure she can exercise them.

It's time for Burger King to stop standing in the way and join us and support local ordinances across the state to ensure every fast food worker knows their rights.

#FastFoodFairWork

We demand that Burger King take action to correct the harm they've done to our coworker as a result of their violations.

We also demand that Burger King not cut our coworker’s hours again during the pregnancy and provide her with the accommodations she needs for a safe pregnancy.
cafastfoodunion.org
The boss allegedly told other workers that our coworker wasn’t getting more hours because she’s now “useless” and “good for nothing.”

Due to the solidarity of our coworker, her family, and other workers, her hours have been restored, but that's not enough!

Big congratulations to California gig drivers! A decade ago they launched their effort for the right to form a union and faced lots of obstacles but they kept going.

Voting Yes on Proposition 50 is vitally important to farm workers and immigrant families. Trump is attacking and targeting latino families. Yes on Proposition 50 pushes back to protect our voices in Congress.  It is a chance to stand together and say: enough is enough. #YesOnProp50

Congratulations to the gig drivers who fought for years to win the right to form a union. You did that! This is the power every single worker holds when we join together to demand dignity and respect. When we fight, we win!

California gig drivers now have the RIGHT to form a union and negotiate with Uber, Lyft, and other rideshare companies.

#AB1340 is a gamechanger! Now gig drivers can bargain together for better working conditions and respect!

You have an opportunity to make a huge difference by voting Yes on CAs prop 50. Trump is redistricting TX to get 5 more seats so Republicans can continue to control the house. We must do the same in CA or we could have 2 more years of the current oppressive racism. #YesOnProp50
