The results are in!

Titmouse Vancouver workers voted overwhelmingly to ratify our second collective agreement!
A cartoon red ball and a blue bird are smiling, high-fiving and giving the peace sign in front of a simplified maple leaf, with a big red "YES!" behind them. Text on a light blue background reads

"The Titmouse Vancouver Bargaining Committee would like to thank everyone who participated in the ratification vote this week. All digital ballots have been processed, and with a 62.2% voter turnout, we are happy to announce the final results:

With 97.6% of votes in favour, the second Titmouse Vancouver Collective Agreement is RATIFIED!

The wins in this renegotiation are a testament to the support, engagement, and energy of Titmouse Vancouver workers - and the power of building on the solid foundation of our first agreement.

The Executive Board of CAG 938 would like to sincerely thank all of the workers at Titmouse Vancouver who volunteered their time in the Bargaining Committee, at the bargaining table, and showing up for our rally for Leads!

We could not have had the strength at the table without the efforts of workers like you!"

What's in Titmouse Vancouver's new TA?

Recognition of Leads! Leads are now on the wage table with formalized pay increase and crediting. Leads are invaluable to the work our members do, and we got them recognized thanks to those who showed up to our rally during this summer's negotiations!
A large, ruggedly handsome and strong red Caggy stands heroically with wind blowing through their hair while they carry many teeny tiny little red Caggies in their arms. There are little Caggies standing around them smiling and holding pen styluses.

What's in Titmouse Vancouver's new tentative agreement?

The return of accrued vacation! Payouts per paycheque are good, but a majority told us it felt like they couldn't afford to actually take that vacation! Now it's best of both worlds - paid vacation & payout of unused vacation at contract end!
A red cartoon creature is dressed in a stereotypical vacation outfit, including straw hat, Hawaiian shirt, socks with sandals, and sunglasses. Caggy is smiling, holding a suitcase, and giving a peace sign.

Some workers, to make deadlines, have had to work through lunch or even skipped entirely! Our new contract bargained meal penalties @ 1 hour of hourly wage for each 1/2 hour infringed - on top of regular hourly rate! Production doesn't want to pay a penalty? Enjoy that delicious lunch break! 🥪

Below is CAG 938's statement on the recently announced event in Stanley Park.
Text on the letterhead of CAG 938 reads:
"
The Canadian Animation Guild is deeply disappointed in the Vancouver Park Board’s decision to replace the yearly Bright Nights charity event with a for-profit Harry Potter-themed attraction at Stanley Park this year.

Bright Nights is an annual event hosted by the BC Professional Fire Fighters Association to raise donations for their Burn Fund, which provides valuable support for burn survivors and their families. This event brings communities together in solidarity with the indispensable services that BC firefighters provide to our province.

Not only is the Park Board’s decision a slap in the face of firefighters and burn victims, but the decision to replace it with a for-profit event that promotes the Intellectual Property of Joanne Rowling shows a disregard for the concerns of 2SLGBTQIA+ workers in our city. Rowling is well known for utilizing her own wealth in lobbying for the erosion of trans rights in the UK and abroad, championing legislation that cuts trans healthcare and restricts the rights of transgender people to exist in public. As the owner of the Harry Potter IP, Rowling directly benefits from such events. By choosing to approve a licensed Harry Potter-themed event in Stanley Park, Vancouver City Council and the Park Board have made all of us who live and work in Vancouver complicit by funding JK Rowling’s ongoing campaign against trans people.

CAG 938 stands with 2SLGBTQIA+ workers in our membership and beyond, and we will continue to represent their interests, both in and out of the workplace. We will also be exploring our options through the Vancouver & District Labour Council to hold the Park Board accountable.

On behalf of the CAG Executive Board,

Eddy Pedreira (he/him), President and Kari Nakken (she/any) Pride Committee Chair"

Titmouse Vancouver workers have a tentative deal on their second contract! ✊🐦
A blue cartoon bird is smiling and stepping out of a maple leaf symbol, with one hand outstretched and two fingers raised in the peace/two symbol. Bright red text at the top reads "WE DID IT!" and at the bottom there is text that reads " Titmouse Vancouver workers and the employer have reached a second tentative deal. Learn more at tm-ratification.info Text reads "The Canadian Animation Guild, IATSE Local 938, is happy to announce that the animation workers at Titmouse Vancouver have renegotiated a tentative agreement on their second contract, with workers voting on the agreement in three weeks’ time.

Some key victories for the Titmouse workers in this agreement includes, but is not limited to:

Increased wage minimums, with increases of 9.5% or more over three years

Recognition of Leads, with increased wage minimums and crediting

Improved job security, giving current and returning workers access to preferential hiring

Meal Penalties to compensate workers directed to work through their meal breaks

AI language providing worker protections in line with other IATSE contracts"
Text reads "“Four years ago, Titmouse workers established a foundation for the workplace they wanted to see.” says Eddy Pedreira, President of CAG 938, “Today, they have built upon this foundation in many ways, taking one step closer to this vision. The improvements in this new agreement show that even when our industry is at its most turbulent, collective bargaining still wins the day.”

Animation workers in Titmouse Vancouver’s creative roles were the first Canadian animation workers to form a union under IATSE Local 938 on October 13th, 2020 and they were joined by Titmouse production workers in 2023. IATSE Local 938, The Canadian Animation Guild, was chartered on April 21st, 2020, and is Canada’s first dedicated union Local for animation workers. The Canadian Animation Guild is actively organizing more workers across Animation, Video games and VFX studios with the goal of improving the working lives of their peers.

John Lewis, IATSE International Vice-President and Director of Canadian Affairs said, “We are proud of the wins that Titmouse Vancouver workers have secured in their new agreement. These improvements are a testament to the commitment we have seen consistently from this group of workers.”

CAG will be hosting town halls for Titmouse workers to prepare them to vote on their agreement on September 24th and 25th, 2025.

CAG's Pride Committee organized our second ever blood drive this past Saturday ✊🔴🏳️‍🌈

Thank you to the committee volunteers and The Canadian Blood Services that organized this, and the CAG members and friends that joined in!
I group of people is crowded together in what looks to be an elementary school gym. They are all smiling and holding various signs from The Canadian Blood Services, including one that is written on that says "Saving lives with CAG 938 Pride!"

Rogers Communications workers in Abbotsford (United Steelworkers 1944) are striking for equal pay. These 25 workers are paid 10% less than Rogers workers across the lower mainland in BC, and Rogers is flying in managers for scab labour.

@cag938.bsky.social members showed up to rally in support!

The solidarity continues with CAG 938 members at the solidarity rally with USW 1944 Rogers workers on strike! The real stars of the afternoon were the hard working members of USW, but a close second was Scabby the Rat 🚫🐀🚫
A group of people are posing for the camera with their hands raised like claws. Behind them is a giant inflatable rat that is snarling and covered in scabs. The sky is cloudy and moody, making the picture look very dramatic.
