Changing from academia to industry is often referred as transitioning. But how does this transition look like? From a physics point of view, I'd say it' a second order phase transition. 🧪👩🏻‍🔬 ⚛️ 🧵#AcademicSky

That’s the famous Kitaev chain.
Start with electrons → rewrite as Majoranas → recombine → and boom: unpaired Majorana modes at the ends.

Here’s a visual I made to show it 👇

Today we had the online graduation ceremony, closing this year with @scicommtrento.bsky.social.
It was bittersweet to see my classmates one last time all together after this very intense year.
Congratulations everyone, let’s keep telling science stories #SciComm

Here is my cat to remind myself and everyone that resting is fundamental (and being this cute also helps) #catsofbluesky

#WomenOfQuantum is back! I took a long break from this series due to life circumstances and having chosen to feature none other than the only women to have won the Abel Prize for her contributions to mathematics: Karen Uhlenbeck 🧪👩🏻‍🔬⚛️🧵

Besides his portrait being displayed next to us at our wedding ceremony, my husband and I walked under a city gate with a Dedicato a Dante banner just after getting married.

At the time, it felt like a fun coincidence. Looking back, it was oddly fitting for the journey I’d be on. 2/8

Everyone at home has a cold, toddler is recovering, no mountain trip this week and a forced rest day today. At least there’s been progress in the toddler-cat relationship

Today in the #WomenOfQuantum series: the First Lady of Physics herself—Chien-Shiung Wu.
If you're a physicist, you probably know her. f you aren't, take the opportunity to get to know her and her science-changing experiment on parity breaking.

This week feels like a mix of a lot and not much at the same time. I’ve been juggling different things, but it’s been challenging to focus deeply on any one project. So, for a little reset, I took my son to my favorite place wherever I live: the central library. Can recommend. 👩🏻‍🔬 #reset #BookSky
