He/Him. I'm a big nerd. I'll probably talk about nerd stuff.

I also write fantasy stories sometimes. You can read them here:

March was a very slow month for me. Life got in the way sometimes, but other times I was just taking a bit of a breather (The Tolkien Marathon took a lot out of me lol)

Also, technically I read 4 books. I read Assassins Apprentice, but had started tracking an all-in-one before rethinking my choice

It's wild for me to ask this question when my TBR pile is taller than Yggdrasil, but where do you guys get your recommendations for new reads?

I appreciate BookTok and StoryGraph, but oftentimes, I notice that it's usually the same crop of novels that show up on each list.

(Reading "Assassin's Apprentice" by Robin Hobb for the first timeand feeling the weight of the slow pace)

This is going to emotionally destroy me in the last 100 pages, isn't it?

"Medieval Samurai" is crazy.

Not positive if it was intentional or not, but The Mabinogion is hilarious.

Found out the popcorn book–how I refer to a book that requires less brain power to consume–that I'm enjoying has 2 sequels.

I fear Joseph Campbell is Just Like Me For Real.

I'm kicking myself for never reading him before. My dude was a Michelin star chef. Brother was COOKIN'.

I've not posted for a while because I just spent 11 days reading the behemoth all-in-one LotR and LOVED IT!

But a 1000+ page tome has left me a little fatigued so I've been playing some video games and doing some D&D writing lately.

Grabbed some boxes from storage today to get some of my study supplies. Ended up finding a bunch of notebooks/loose leaf D&D notes from years ago.

Got me feeling both "I would never do this now" and "Damn, I kinda cooked, huh?"

I finished "The Fellowship of the Ring." In addition to all of the lore that's in here, there's really only one thing to say:

Yeah, they live up to the hype.

In the words of Sandor Clegane, "Fuck the King."

Since this is the culmination of all my Tolkien reading and the first time I've ever read the LotR trilogy, I decided to annotate this one!

Orange denotes parts (as this is an all-in-one) and is my general highlighter color. Green is dope quotes. Blue is lore. Red is Sauron/the Ring.

I told myself that 2025 was "The year I was going to do Tolkien right" by reading all of the books of his I've had but never gotten to.

That includes "Lord of the Rings."

I've read through "The Silmarillion", "The Great Tales" and "The Hobbit" prepping for this.

It's finally time.

I know I'm on my Tolkien shit right now, but I fully believe you can get anyone into reading Tolkien by showing them "Riddles in the Dark" from "The Hobbit."

One of my favorite chapters in fantasy, period.

Another set down! Very happy to have finished The Great Tales of Middle-Earth.
I'll share my thoughts on "The Fall of Gondolin" tomorrow, but my personal rankings of the Tales are:

1. The Children of Húrin
2. The Fall of Gondolin
3. Beren and Lúthien

Now. Onto the Third Age. ✌️

Book #10 of 2025:

Back into the world of Iron Druid I went. And it's still fun! I don't really have as much to say about these books as I feel as if they're more for entertainment rather than having anything major it wants to say, which is valid. Books can just be fun.

Watched the #SuperBowl with my girlfriend and apparently I chirp to much because she said "So this is what sports do to you."

Anyway, back to my books. Go Birds. ✌️
