the white house thinks brute force is, no pun intended, a trump card. they don’t anticipate pushback and they don’t know how to handle it with anything other than escalation. the issue is that each escalation is itself a gamble. if protesters refuse to back down, you’ve lost face. (1/?)

What’s the different valence of “basement dwelling gamer” as against “immigrant receiving benefits without taxes” and “welfare queen?” Who’s being added to the cache of images to scorn?

Hear me out…an exaggerated version of Derridean double reading: first stable read in the grant application, let (interpretive) hell break loose once the bag is secured

Might work once? Might work just a couple times? But we gotta grow a rose in every crack we can, while we can
I ran grant programs at @nehgov.bsky.social for over a decade. With colleagues, oversaw review of thousands of grant applications. Witnessed care & thoughtfulness of hundreds of reviewers. This statement is insulting to all of them. Whoever wrote it should be ashamed.

Need to write a paper on some rappers appealing to being country and comparing that against rappers appealing to being street, hood, etc for authenticity/credibility. Southern rap especially in the early 2000s really repped rurality, what’s going on there?

Turns out, transphobia and the obsession with political-economic-sexual virility and aggressiveness are, as anyone with a brain has known, completely enmeshed. Glad it’s just out there now, in mainstreamed right wing hormone discourse.

I will not be coalition building with the WSJ editorial board to bring down Trump. And if you are coalition building with them, I will not be coalition building with you. It’s economic democracy + redistribution + indigenous- and smallholder-prioritizing ag reform, or it’s no deal
WSJ EDITORIAL BOARD: “.. Trump thinks he can bully everyone into submission, but he can’t bully Adam Smith, who deals in reality. Markets know tariffs are taxes, and taxes are anti-growth. The Trump tariffs are the biggest economic policy mistake in decades ..”

2. Democrat Party scoops them up, moving the party further right.
3. Democrats frame all this shit as an aberration from capitalism,

It is deliberate and wanton devastation entirely out of scale with any concern about DEI activities on campuses.
