Just received word of the passing of a great photographer, Rosalind Fox Solomon. I am very grateful I had the opportunity to get to know her and work briefly in her studio in 2016, digitizing parts of her archive. She had a keen and compassionate eye and there’s simply no one else like her.

I had the pleasure of photographing a student matinee of the musical Ragtime at the New York City Center. It was powerful listening to the effect this potent work had on the full theatre of children from every walk of life across New York. Gasps, indignation at the many atrocities depicted.

We used to have good scrollbars. Granted, now we have scroll-wheels (or trackpads with gestures) as standard UX inputs, and much larger desktop space, so I can understand the vestigially shrinking bars, but I don’t have to like it. I also miss Windowshades and that delightful sound they made.
