I grew up in Toronto when they opened SkyDome… still call it SkyDome, not some cheesy Rogers whatever. It’ll forever be known as the Y for me.

Wasn’t super fast, I assumed dude was letting me pass but nope, he was in his own little headspace 🙃

all I think of is a Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel 🫠

And yes, that makes 2 sizeable closures on 12 Ave: the one @tinybeaches.bsky.social noticed by the Beltline Safeway and a brand new one for a demolition in the NW corner of 12 Ave & 1 St SE.

Silver linings: the closure on 12 Ave between 3 St and Olympic Way SE appears to be clearing out.

Shouldn’t really come as a surprise, seeing as the city treats the cycle tracks mostly with indifference. No detours, just dismount and walk…

Just another day on the 12 Ave cycle tracks #yycbike

Elections Alberta has approved a citizen-initiated petition application to gather signatures in support of the proposal to end public funding to independent/private schools.

Calgary teacher Alicia Taylor says she brought it forward because it could help improve funding for public schools. #AbEd

If high school chemistry teacher Alicia Taylor gets her wish, Albertans will vote in a referendum on whether to end public funding for independent schools.

Day 3 of the teacher’s strike (GO TEACHERS!) and it shows… very few cars or bikes on my travels today, guessing plenty of parents are WFH (maybe I should put quotes on that).

Seems like a good idea to destress and take in the gorgeous fall day and #yycbike

Part of me wonders if it's some dude on a bike who secured a paint brush to the back 🫠

WOW!

Alberta just got another approved referendum petition!

And this one calls for the practice of funding private schools with public money to be put to an end!

During the teachers strike!

Strap in Alberta, we’re going on a ride!

Hit the advance polls for the municipal election!

The process is pretty Byzantine and requires signing a statement that is likely going to bring voting to a crawl on e-day.

Voting at Platform lets you vote for candidates in any and all wards. The process was easy and quick, get on it!

A miracle that kid didn't get hurt more, the rate of speed that car was going, he had zero intention of stopping

My client is thankfully letting me WFH/offsite, so may just have to organize an outing to Telus Spark for them and maybe a friend or two and I can just huddle in a corner with my MacBook... this nice weather will only last so long and it's a great place for them to run around while I plug away.

Lots of day camp options ATM... my two (9 and 11) and nine others are going to their summer camp for a day trip today. The weather in K Country was too nice not to do it.

Was a pain to go for pickup at Westbrook, but happy I can provide. Tomorrow it's Laser City, but will lay low after that.

Good luck. The depressing reality with an economic downturn is that child care spots seem to open up :(
