Woth Anaal Nathrak, I'd managed to let them slip by me for years, including several chances to see them at festivals but I heard Forward! for the first time this year and it hooked me.

Everything I wanted it to be and more. Punishing and difficult to the point of anger, once it clicks you become murder incarnate and it does not shy away from letting you show it. As far as third-person shooters go, this is a new gold standard for me. Loved it.

The most okmatewanker game ever made. It's criminally short at about 3 hours but I belly laughed my way through the entire thing. It's obtuse and ridiculous in all the best ways, completely charming throughout and left me wanting so much more from it.

Honestly might be my game of the year. Combat feels important; it's all about risk and reward, the atmosphere is unbelievable, the setting and world feels alive and vibrant in it's nuclear misery. The characters feel realistic. I had an absolute blast in spite of being terrified.

I actually really enjoyed this game but my major bugbear with it is it has so much scope to it and ends up being just pinky deep. By design, it doesn't tell you much but once you figure it out it's a blast. It's just criminally short, thereafter.

This just more of a curiosity to me than anything. It takes maybe an hour to beat on it's hardest difficulty, provides absolutely no explanation or context but it does just feel like a random 80s saturday morning cartoon. Definitely interesting, if nothing else.

The sonic part of this game is rough but the Shadow part is genuinely, imo, the best 3D sonic game ever made. Its tight and fluid, every level has at least one "Hell Yeah" moment in it, it would make 15 year old me piss his pants so it ticks all the right boxes.

This has a B grade written all over it. It felt like a swing at a sort of more modern look and feel to the classic sonic format but whatever they gained in fidelity, they lost in heart. It just felt really quite empty by the end and the boss battles were an ordeal.

I've only beaten one run in this so far but, yeah, I get why people wouldn't shut up about this for a while. I'm not one for visual novels at all but this was a real experience. I actually just really liked how unique it felt more than anything. I intend to play more of it.

It was decent, I guess. There's not much to say about it. It's funny in a dumb way, there's very little actual gameplay and it slid off my brain the minute the credits rolled. It does have some real laugh out loud moments in it so I can't say I didn't enjoy playing it.

What I thought was just a cool looking little 2D platformer with a unique gimmick ended up being a soul crushing story of a game that I've not shut up about in months. A complete dark horse in the argument for my favourite game this year and a game I'd recommend everyone try.

Such a departure from the style of the older games. It has the same energy to it, but it's drawn out over like 3 times as much runtime so it has a different edge to it. It's a toss up between this and 2 as my favourite but they're so dfifferent it's hard to compare.

This was stilla great game but something of a letdown. I knew of nemesis through the movie and thought that it was the coolest looking enemy from a game ever, so for most of his encounters to be mostly scripted and short, it let me down. Still amazing outside of that.

Absolute pants shitting terror condensed down to about 6 hours. I was dreading this one and it's arguably my favourite of them. Same convoluted puzzles, same awkward combat, even more fun than the 1st. Just 6 hours of being chased by a sleep paralysis demon. Highly recommend.

This game was an unexpected highlight of my year. I knew of it mainly for it's notoriety; the dodgy cameras, the awkward combat, the convoluted puzzles. It has all of those things and is still absolutely brilliant. So good that it made me play 4 more of these games.

This was mostly just played because I was attempting every numbered entry in the classic RE games. It was okay. It was very gimmicky and I think playing RE1 first probably hurt my opinion of this a little bit as it pales in comparisson but it's still decent.

A particularly unique entry in the world of modern racing games. I mostly bought it because visually it looked like a riot, which it is, but it's the first "git gud" racing game I've played in a long time. Takes absolutely no prisoners and you either get good or fail. Just great fun.
