Shocked to see the scale of job cuts threatened across Cambridge University Hospitals. We stand in full solidarity with @unitetheunion.bsky.social members resisting these attacks on our NHS and its workers. www.unitetheunion.org/news-events/...

In the meantime, we remind everyone that trans people are still legally protected from discrimination, harassment, and victimisation in employment, education, and the provision of services, and we will support everyone in using their bathroom of choice.

We are still awaiting clarity on what the ruling means in practice for trans, non-binary and intersex staff and students within Cambridge University.

Cambridge UCU, Unison and Unite reps were due to meet Senior Management this week to discuss the impact of the Supreme Court ruling on the Equality Act in April, and the subsequent guidance and consultation from the EHRC. Unfortunately, due to staff illness this meeting has been postponed.

@ducuuo.bsky.social, Newcastle UCU and Brunel UCU are on strike today, battling job cuts and management failure. Sending solidarity and strength.

Yesterday, we joined hundreds of students and staff in showing our support for the Cambridge Vet School. Our message was clear: the University must allow continued Undergraduate admission, and invest in the Department’s long-term future 🐾

So far we have collected nearly 1,000 signatures - from current staff and students, but also alumni, other veterinarians and academics from across the UK and abroad! If you have not signed the letter yet, you can do so here: linktr.ee/savecamvets

Beautiful day for a rally in support of the Vet School, including Unions @cambridgeucu.bsky.social @unison.org.uk @unite0775m.bsky.social & BVU, students from CUVS, department staff, and the student union.
A woman with a loudspeaker addresses a crowd of people waving banners and signs in support of veterinary medicine at the University of Cambridge. It is a brilliantly sunny day and King's College is in the background. A man in a Unite union high viz jacket and bobble hat addresses a crowd with a loudspeaker. The crowd are holding placards including "Allow the 2026 intake", "Save the Vet School", "No to pause, yes to paws" etc. It is a bright sunny day and in the background stand King's College and the Old Schools buildings.

I urge @cambridgeup.bsky.social to refrain from adopt regulations that contravene international standards from human rights protection, and to stop harasing and stigmatizing the university based pro-palestine solidarity movement.

Restrictions, unless justified as necessary on a case-by-cases basis, should not be imposed on: the time of assemblies, their frequency, the number of participants, the location to be held, and the equipment used.
"Blanket restrictions on peaceful assemblies are presumptively disproportionate."👇

As I highlighted in the recommendations submitted in 2024, universities must ensure that their regulations and practices are aligned with human rights law and international standards. Specifically related to the right to freedom of peaceful assembly universities must:👇

In anticipation of the General Board meeting on March 5th, we are holding a lunchtime demonstration/rally in front of Senate House on Tuesday, March 4th from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. We intend to demonstrate that the Veterinary School is an important part of the Cambridge community

We condemn the University of Cambridge's attempt to place legal restrictions on all pro-Palestine protests.

Alongside @pscupdates.bsky.social and @libertyhq.bsky.social we call out this application to the High Court for an injunction what it is: a shameful attack on basic democratic rights.
