At @notredame.bsky.social, Rory Finnin called attention to Volodymyr Ananyev — the Kremlin's oldest Ukrainian political prisoner.

💬 “The Kremlin relies on our silence to keep its political prisoners anonymous, faceless. Please learn the name of Volodymyr Ananyev and share his story with others."

Just sent out this post. Three and a half years after Bucha, after mass child abductions started, after nightly attacks on civilians, the political strength of parties sympathetic to Russia (which is doing these things) is growing not declining. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

Three years ago, we called for the adoption of a “mental war footing” in Europe due to the trajectories of Russian aggression.

With Russian hybrid attacks now proliferating, will we finally learn from the sacrifices of the people of Ukraine and pull our heads from the sand?

Before the start of the full-scale invasion, such comments were cast as "hysterical":

"Wars of aggression by their nature defy borders. They rarely stay confined to them."

Weakness increases the risk of a wider war in Europe. Our full support of Ukraine is meant to prevent one.

⚡️ Zelenskyy says the world is slowly starting to “forgive Putin for this war.”

He told Sky News that Putin stalls talks to delay sanctions, ramp up arms production, and chip away at his isolation.

We should not think about it, we should do it! We've had years to think about it.

🇵🇱🇺🇦 West should consider shooting down Russian drones and missiles over Ukraine, —Sikorski.

“If you ask me personally, we should think about it. Technically, we, as NATO and EU, would be able to do it, but this is a decision that Poland cannot make on its own, but only together with its allies."

This Ukrainian orchestra created an overture imitating the sound of Russian Shahed drone attack. And I guarantee you it’s one of the most chilling things you’d ever hear.

This is exactly how drone attack sounds like : the nauseating moped-like

Putin hasn't changed his aims, & thinks he can keep fighting longer than the West can support Ukraine. Europeans now have to prove him wrong & change his calculus - but any help they get from Trump should be seen as a bonus, not something to rely on. 2/2

Russia attacks Poland deliberately, the Trump response…”It could’ve been a mistake.”
Any European state basing its defense plans on the US defending it from a Russian attack is living in a fantasy world and deliberately exposing its citizens to great risk.

Worth noticing that Ukraine defended itself far better than NATO and against a much more extensive Russian attack at the same time. If we want to be safe we have to help and learn from the Ukrainians.

Russia’s mass kidnapping of Ukrainian children is a moral outrage. Russia is sending abducted children to military training camps and preventing them from contacting their loved ones. We must work to reunite these children with their families.

It's perfectly clear that the russian drone attacks against Poland were intentional.
NATO's response must be organized and comprehensive.
For the security of Ukraine and our own, Ukrainian skies must be closed to russian attacks without delay.
We can do it.

In other words, the coalition of the willing is unwilling to help until Ukraine doesn't need its help. Surely at some point someone has to realise that this approach just incentivises Putin to keep the war going?

On troop deployment:

Macron *very* clear twice: only the day *after* the ceasefire, and any deployment must be part of a "ceasefire, a truce, or a peace agreement". In other words: no European boots on the ground before an agreement.
