Breast cancer may not cause any signs or symptoms in its early stages. Signs and symptoms often appear when the tumour grows large enough to be felt as a lump in the breast or when the cancer spreads to surrounding tissues and organs.

🔬 Their team will identify how the protein complex functions in cancer cells and design ways to block it. This project could lead to innovative drugs that target this protein complex, stopping prostate cancer in its tracks and saving more lives.
cancersociety.bsky.social
Dr Ferbeyre and his team are targeting a newly discovered protein complex which helps cancer cells produce energy and protect themselves from damage, making them resistant to treatment and allowing them to adapt and grow.

As of 2024, Zoe’s cancer is shrinking with radiation treatment. Through Camp Goodtimes as well as running and volunteering in #CIBCRunForTheCure, she actively works to spread her hope.
“Sharing my story is important to let other people know that they’re not alone in what they’re facing.” 💛
cancersociety.bsky.social
🏕️ One of Zoe’s brightest experiences has been attending Camp Goodtimes, a place where she finally felt understood. She’s now a Leader in Training and hopes to become a lifeguard in 2026. Camp has given Zoe a space to connect, heal, and grow—reminding her that she’s never alone in her journey.

She learned that the cancer had metastasized to her lungs.
“My doctor told me that there are about 42 people in the world that have my type of cancer, so it’s not really researched. There are things to be special in, and this is not one of them.”
cancersociety.bsky.social
Zoe was first diagnosed with a rare cancer called spindle epithelial tumor with thymus-like differentiation (SETTLE) in 2015 when she was just eight years old. After surgery to remove the tumor, she was cancer-free – until 2019.
