A truly global Just Transition cannot happen without confronting the fundamental injustice at the heart of today’s global economy: that most countries lack the public resources and the policy autonomy to protect their people or reimagine their economies in the face of climate disaster. Countries in the Global South - already facing climate impacts they did not cause - are forced to choose between protecting their people or servicing debt.

What leaders do between now and 2030 will shape our collective future. The Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative offers a clear, coordinated plan to transition away from fossil fuels, addressing the world’s dangerous dependence on them while ensuring a just phaseout.
