D.C. has been blessed to have a representative who combined razor-sharp legal intellect with genuine compassion for working families.

This was a transformative achievement that has opened doors to higher education for thousands of young Washingtonians.

She secured the D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant program for our students, which has just received an increase, and now provides up to $15,000 annually for every D.C. high school graduate to attend any public U.S. college or university.

Her tenure reflects not just longevity, but moral consistency. From her early work in the Civil Rights movement to her relentless advocacy in Congress, she has never wavered in her commitment to justice and equality.

Being quiet is not an option. We must defend and protect Home Rule and continue our advocacy for statehood.

It is also a reminder to recognize the real-life heroes amongst us who stepped up, and stood up to a frenzied mob to certify the 2020 presidential election results. Lives were lost, damage was done, and repair must be part of how we come out of the storm that I believe is still going on today.

It underscores our need for full autonomy & statehood, which I hope members of Congress recognize as a growing need for the country’s benefit, not just our own safety & security during hapless administrations.

Defending our local democracy from federal overreach is a major part of my platform. It's why I’m speaking out on this issue.

Right now, our gun laws require individuals to register their firearms with MPD. Military weapons like AR-15s and similar style semi-automatic firearms are prohibited in DC and cannot be registered. I plan to follow this case and hope our current legislative body amplifies the harm this could cause.

As a candidate seeking to join the legislative body of the District of Columbia (DC), I own the responsibility to speak up when our local democracy is under attack and actions are taken that would make us less safe.

I understand Metro’s focus on the immediate areas around the grounds, but attention must be given to the existing nearby Minnesota Avenue and Benning Road Metro Stations. We must investigate improvements that can be made at those stations to prepare all Ward 7 neighborhoods for the future.
