Jackets not starting Elvis on the second night of back-to-backs despite a flight delay says it all.

I just don’t see what the vision that Waddell has for the Jackets is. He seems to keep acquiring guys on the wrong side of 30…which suggests a win-now strategy. Then, when they don’t work out, he trades them for picks, suggesting a “build for the future” approach. End result? Just treading water.
December 29, 2025 at 9:50 PM
Given how badly Waddell is doing, let’s just get to the part where Nash is named GM so we can do it and be done with it.

He isn’t expecting there to be an inauguration, he’s expect there to be a coronation.
Trump on the ballroom: "It's bigger than I told you. It's, you know -- after realizing we're gonna do the inauguration in that building, it's got all bulletproof glass, it's got all drone, they call it drone-free roof. It's dronessss -- won't touch it. It's a big beautiful safe building."
December 29, 2025 at 9:37 PM
Looking at the Jackets trades since Waddell arrived…they are all of a similar flavor and underwhelming. He gets assets in one deal and acquires mediocre talent at some later date with those assets. There’s no attempt to solve bigger issues.
December 29, 2025 at 9:34 PM
What exactly are the Jackets and when exactly will they be competitive? Werenski is in his prime. Marchenko and Voronkov are probably early in their prime. Fantilli still has room to develop. Johnson and Sillinger are disappointments. Wood, Jenner, Marchment and Coyle are all beyond their peak.
December 29, 2025 at 9:23 PM
The Jackets can sell the Chinakhov trade as part of the Marchment trade for now. Eventually you will see Coyle and Marchment traded at the deadline. Will Jenner join them is the question.
December 29, 2025 at 9:11 PM
The Penguins have 7 second round picks and 7 third round picks in the next 3 drafts. Hopefully there is at least a second for Chinakhov and more.
December 29, 2025 at 8:40 PM
Let’s see what the return is. They pretty much drove his trade value into the dirt.
Pierre LeBrun reporting Columbus are finalising a trade involving Yegor Chinakhov for draft picks.

Buffalo and ex-CBJ GM Jarmo Kekäläinen were rumoured to be interested. Nothing confirmed just yet.

Don’t have to play Elvis on the second night of a back to back if there isn’t a second night of a back to back.

Getting Hunt in the Jiricek trade and seemingly giving up on him immediately was also a bizarre part of that chapter. Then wasting the first round pick on a Russian goalie locked into a contract? (Deep sigh)
December 28, 2025 at 7:45 PM
It’s kind of a wild thing that had David Jiricek not been a bust and remained a Jacket, a substantial portion of the Jackets problems would be solved.
December 28, 2025 at 7:32 PM
This is a deep draft year and the Jackets need to get as many picks in the first and second rounds as they can. They desperately need to restock the prospect pipeline.
December 28, 2025 at 7:09 PM
At this point, if the Jackets can get a second round pick for him, do it and move on. And if they can make it a higher potential pick, i.e. San Jose’s, that might allow them to trade up into the late first at the draft, all the better.
The #SJSharks own the final wild card spot in the west. If they stay there, rewarding the players' success with a small buy at the deadline could be exactly what they need. #CBJ's Yegor Chinakhov might be that guy. Read more on Sharks Hockey Digest.

Should Sharks Take A Swing At Frustrated Blue Jackets Winger?
The San Jose Sharks could reward their success with a trade for Columbus Blue Jackets winger Yegor Chinakhov at the NHL's trade deadline.

In a just world, the Group of Five should cut a deal to turn the Bowl system into their unofficial championship and cut out the Power 5 entirely. But this can’t happen because the bowls won’t believe this can draw enough eyeballs.
December 28, 2025 at 5:25 PM
Jiricek another failed prospect taken in the top 10 by the Jackets. The question has been asked—do we have a scouting problem? But the other relevant question is—do we have a development problem? And who was responsible for that? Rick Nash, the guy who will surely replace this GM. Ugh…
December 28, 2025 at 5:17 PM
How often do you see a team sending down a player they acquired in a trade to bring up the player they sent away in that trade?
David Jiricek reassigned. So Tyler Pitlick and Matt Kiersted are the extras currently on the trip. Daemon Hunt could join when cleared medically
December 28, 2025 at 5:15 PM
Looking at recent drafts, it doesn’t look good. We made a huge reach with a first round pick on Chinakhov. Me made an even bigger risk last summer with a goaltender. This team doesn’t have any near term solutions to its problems. If this becomes a rebuild, it’s a long process.
NEW: The Blue Jackets do not have any prospects playing in the World Junior Championships tournament this season. Could this hint at issues in their scouting department? #CBJ

This guy is the one guy in the sports “expert” landscape who really does seem to “get it” as opposed to the loudmouth contrarians trying to get attention. If Cleveland, Chicago and KC all get domes, which of those 3 would actually get the Super Bowl regularly? Not KC or Cleveland.
