And, yes, there are some areas I’d even consider an older rental as a bandaid for a playoff run—ex. Right shot defenseman or goaltending. But the price has to be right and the fit has to be right.

You can (and should) do both in this situation. The team has to get younger and add players who will contribute for the next 3-5 years. Jenner either gets you one of those pieces or the assets to acquire it.
