I also have no clue how the training and experience of Moe, Ford, Smith, and Poilievre even qualify them to rule in judicial cases (Not one of them is a legal expert, IIRC) let alone sit on the highest court in the land.

I do not want ANY politicial interference with the judicial branch - at all. Ever.

I certainly do not want our judges to be elected as they are in the US - largely because it’s not going great for them down there, though the campaign ads are hilarious.

So I get a little disquieted when the likes of Poilievre, Ford, Smith, and Moe begin the ragefarming in this way.

Moreover, Scott Moe came out with the line “…unelected judges…” - an echo from our US cousins.

For the uninitiated - the judicial branch of the Canadian government is there as a realistic check to the parliamentary and senate branches.

Judges hear cases and weigh them, on their merits and evidence, and pass their learned judicial opinions.

That’s their job.

- engage in hate speech and conspiracies.
- and are often the most thin skinned when it comes to criticisms.

So you’ll forgive me for reaching the conclusion that some of our right wing politicians (Polievere, Smith, Moe) need to abide by a better standard before the situation can change. #cdnpoli

- deploy lies and half truths.
- deny the existence of marginalised groups.
- regularly justify hatred and bigotry.
- regularly cosy up to extremists and demagogues.
- avoid accountability and responsibility.
- engage in behaviours of which they accuse their opponents.

But then, what else can you expect from someone who uses the very tools Mr. Kirk used to rise to prominence - rhetoric, delivery, debate skills, logical fallacies?

When we ask the big questions, PP does not have anything but simplistic answers and/or slogans.

With hearing things they disagree with.

While I agree, partially, with his response his irresponsibility in assigning motive to the killer prior to *any* investigation starting speaks volumes.

As does his reductive take on how to end political violence…
