If we think about the relative contribution of W’ vs CP to MMP at 60s 30,000kj/60s = 500w/300w at 600s 30,000kj/600s = 50w/300w … it makes sense that we see FPC1 pacing range at 60s vs 600s
December 12, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Yes and no. The mean of the FPC1 score is fairly even across durations. However, the range of FPC1 scores is clearly larger at long durations peaking around 50 seconds. At longer durations the range tightens up to quite a bit.
December 12, 2025 at 4:53 PM
Lets compare the overall variation in pacing and the variation in FPC1. In overall pacing variation we again see a peak around 50 seconds but the variation stays relatively high out to the end. So its not just a matter of more variation around 50 seconds but a specific type of variation.

The FPCs that go along with this:
December 11, 2025 at 5:02 AM
This is a plot of the FPC1 scores (mean and std) grouped by each duration. FPC1 captures a trade off between start versus finish pacing. What we see is a lot more variability on this score at shorter durations peaking around 50 seconds. It does make sense where capacity plays a bigger roll.

I think FPC2 is plausibly real as well. FPC1 is clearly the oh shit went out too slow or too easy while FPC2 is the second half adjustment that goes a little too far and you fade or kick at the end respectively ... or its artifact ...
December 10, 2025 at 7:08 AM
Looking at 17,040 MMP generating intervals (16 durations from each of 1,065 individuals), we see the mean curve is fairly flat, slight fast start, FPC1 is a fast vs slow start trade off and then it gets wiggly from there ...

Get off my lawn - oh damnit. Look fun and wheelie skills are also up 1,800 percent and the kids are outside riding around in social grass touching tire smoking packs. Like, what do you want Cheeto-finger finger jimmy raging on a discord mouth breathing through a vape 1 prompt short of suicide?
