Love it! (But now the cats are awake.) What a gorgeous pup!

Oh, what a gorgeous morning - and what a handsome fellow!

This is a huge help - thank you! As the article notes, now that the harvest season is largely past, we'll see how ICE treats farm workers in the days and weeks ahead.

Ooh, this is nice - thanks for sharing!

Honest question, though: I've seen a lot of posts here & elsewhere about farm owners saying that they have too few workers & are worried about losing crops. Is that all BS? (Not arguing with your point, at all, but if I'm misinformed I'd like to correct that.)

Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

I'm primarily Pliocene and Pleistocene in focus. And my childhood fascination w/ dinosaurs led me to focus on megafauna - I like my fossils from big critters.

Looking for silver linings wherever they might be.

I majored in biological anthropology, but then became a paleontologist anyway. My focus is on mammals, but I still love dinos. 😊

Happy 120 years of Tyrannosaurus rex and Albertosaurus sarcophagus! Both of these iconic dinosaur species were named by paleontologist Henry Fairfield Osborn on this day back in 1905. (Yes, this would have been a good #FossilFriday post, but it's Saturday and I'm terribly literal.) 🦖🧪
Mounted skeleton of Tyrannosaurus rex on display at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US. View is looking up at the complete skeleton w/ the skull to the left & the tail to the right; there are plants and another dino skeleton beneath the mount and a grey museum roof above. This particular skeleton is important because it is the holotype specimen of the species (although the skull here is a cast because the actual skull is far too heavy to be mounted this way). Skull of Albertosaurus sarcophagus on display at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada

Here in California, in a desert town named Baker (population 482 as of 2023), one can find the world's largest thermometer.
A towering red and white thermometer with glowing digital temperature readouts rising above a cluster of gas stations along a highway in the desert under cloudy skies

I dunno about this, sounds fishy.

Congratulations to you both!

Thank you for posting this, I wasn't aware. I'm watching now.

Yep, canceling my subscription all those months ago continues to look like a smart move. What a bunch of garbage.

Oh, George is a beauty. What a happy boy! And what a gorgeous morning!

Let's not disrespect toads by equating them with Gutfeld.

Please note that this is a *color* photo - that fossil is *black* (and consequently tough to photograph!). It was discovered during excavations in the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles, and is the furthest-inland fossil of sea otters known from the San Pedro Formation.

For #FossilFriday and #SeaOtterAwarenessWeek: a fossilized right humerus (arm bone) from the sea otter Enhydra lutris, discovered during construction in Los Angeles in 2018. The fossil derives from the middle Pleistocene marine San Pedro Formation, which has been dated from 900 ka to 270 ka. 🧪🦦
