Just a weird neurodivergent lefty nerd trying to be a decent human being and make, modify & fix things. What kinda things? More or less anything. Art, models, games, cars, society. You know, things. He/him/his (mostly).
This is the most inane criticism possible but that's a Russian weapon and if the tortoise fired it in that position he'd destroy his own helicopter with the backblast.

This whole thing is awful, unprofessional and depressing on so many levels before you even get to that though.

Hope you're OK! Have as good a week as possible under whatever circumstances present themselves.

Or at least I thought it had been deleted? I might be wrong. My connection's been acting up lately.

Anyway, point still stands. Find the people society primes you most strongly to hate and build community and empathy with them. They're humans like you. There'll be something to bond over.

(or at least it should be. I'm wary of labels as simple and binary as "left" and "right" for this reason, if I were being fully precise in terminology I'd probably call myself an intersectional libertarian consequentialist or something but as far as well-understood ideas go I'm basically ancom)

And honestly I think we need to do better in both directions; we need to do better at holding people we actually respect to account, and also at learning to genuinely respect and allow grace for marginalised people.

Real leftism is intersectional; I am not free until all of us are free.
November 29, 2025 at 8:54 PM
For no better reason than because they're culturally much easier to respect- even when we've learned that the culture that stems from is destructive.
November 29, 2025 at 8:53 PM
(insert "respectable" figure as appropriate, you get the idea)

Because all too often the answer, when "that" is something that a marginalised person would get relentlessly hounded for, if we're really honest with ourselves, is that we (the online left) would hear the cis white dude out.
November 29, 2025 at 8:52 PM
Put simply, the test to offer someone is not necessarily "is there anything problematic you could infer from this if you wanted?" but "Would you be prepared to hear a well-presented cis white dude if they said/did this thing? Would you listen to Hasan Piker's explanation if he did that?"
November 29, 2025 at 8:49 PM
They love to purity test marginalised peeps because it lets them say "look at me being a better leftist than this marginalised person, doesn't harassing this woman make me look good?"

This is why I've started thinking about "privilege" in terms of empathy afforded rather than advantage offered.
November 29, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Sad fact is a lot of the online "left" is white, male and concerned with class politics only to the point where they get their bag personally (to the point of not even being particularly lowkey about misogygy, transphobia & racism).

I have a tendency to build an enormous mine and dig up huge quantities of stuff and then be kind of uncertain what to do with all of it.

I think there's an extent to which I find the digging on its own kinda therapeutic though. It's the right kind of repetitive for my autism.

You could say that hunting is Doyle's job, but he's hunting for Dangerous Prey.

The Hat... does chasing an enemy frigate across interdimensional rifts count? Otherwise no.

Garm is more often the hunted than the hunter, but he does go looking occasionally.

Most of how I get past it these days is by not actually painting them black. I use a lot of heraldry and even on the "black" panels they look much nicer with a bit of depth to the shade.

Of course I am a bit of an odd duck when it comes to painting minis :P always doing too much

This was the first ever iteration of the Arrakeen Jihad, known to the High Marhsall as the 42nd Crusade. I made & painted these models 25 years ago.

I still remember my first game with them like it was yesterday.

I don't know if that's #OldHammer exactly but it's been a hell of a time.

Did you ever play X-Com Apocalypse?

Because I think this might be one of the office buildings from X-Com Apocalypse.
November 27, 2025 at 9:55 PM
...you know what, it probably is to my benefit that the LCAF continue to believe that so sure, yeah, of course.

There definitely isn't a Locust behind you with a C3 unit or anything.

I'm sorry to hear that bud :(
