The Slasher Olympics heralds the start of this year's Hallowmeme Countdown.
🎃
The 6 panel Bronze Medal meme. The top left panel shows an athlete bowing his head to receive his medal, but the athlete is now Freddy Krueger. The top right panel shows him biting down on the medal. The middle left panel shows him kissing the woman who placed the medal around his neck. The middle right panel shows him shouting with joy as he sticks up two middle fingers. The bottom left panel has him opening a lively bottle of Champagne. The bottom right panel shows him spraying his face with Champagne as he chugs from the bottle. He's standing on the 3rd place podium, which features the number 45+ (his rough killcount). Michael Myers is standing on the 2nd place podium with a killcount of 150+. On the 1st place podium is Jason Voorhees, with an approximate killcount of 160+. Before anyone dives in to tell me that, actually, I'm wrong because so-and-so has killed more people than such-and-such, I don't care. I looked at numerous sites that claim to have answered this exact question, and Michael and Jason often swap places, so I just went with the character I like more.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

This morning I turned on my phone only to find that it had changed my user name to Shirley, and when I tried to enter a simple Google query it came out as "Do you like gladiator movies?"

Then I realised it was in Airplane! mode.

Went looking for UV makeup, on this day in 2017, and stumbled on a very informative 1⭐ review.
An Amazon listing for some "UV Ghost Blood" with the following 1 star review: "Just looked like I had jizz all over my face." It then goes on to reiterate this point, while also giving us a little more information: "Absolute rubbish, does not glow. Just looked like I had jizz all over my face." In the seller's defence, it does glow, but you need to be in proximity to a blacklight for it to work as intended. Still looks like jizz, though.

I may be misremembering it, or possibly only dreamt it, but I'm convinced there's a scene in the later series where he's playing with his He-Man figures and says "Back in your cave, Fly Man!" while making Buzz Off zoom around Castle Grayskull.

#OTD 45 years ago (7 Oct 1980) according to my diary, I drew these images for the Hitchhiker's Guide BBC TV series. Douglas Adams as both the ad exec and as Paula, the worst poet in the universe. I was 19 years old and having fun.

Alt. text: not that you'd know it, but this was a waaaaay smoother animation before the Bluesky optimisation worked its evil magic. Anyway, it's a gif of a giant racist vigorously shaking the hand of a far smaller racist, who's jiggling about so much he looks like he's re-entering Earth's atmosphere
