As much as I personally wanted RE4R over CVR, I'll admit that RE4R didn't need anything, maybe a new coat of paint if we're feeling ambitious.
Meanwhile there's so much more that could be done with CVR and it would have been the more interesting choice.

but as far as "An unbiased and accurate take on WW2" goes, yeah the Wolfenstein games already do that. In those games you kick the shit out of Nazis, and yeah in real history the Nazis also got the shit kicked out of them.

The original versions of 2 and 4 are both still excellent, so there's a ton of great stuff to draw from, and 3 gets to piggy back off of 2.
