I really consider that to be the wild west era of the Internet. So much stuff went on around then that would not fly today.

It's not that we don't have responsibilities. We work full time, pay bills, and don't do late nights often. But we can still enjoy things in life like we did long ago. The childish beliefs we put away include the belief that it matters what others think about us enjoying our lives.

At the end of the day, video games are just another form of media. I generally watch movies/TV and listen to music for fun, but there's also serious content that isn't fun, but perhaps thought provoking or educational. No reason why that shouldn't exist with an interactive medium like video games.
