Paint Bugs!! This new 4pc watercolor set debuted in the September mystery boxes and was made in collaboration with @carapacestudios.bsky.social , local bug enthusiast and Draw Bugs! instructor and zinester!! Come test this new set at the tester table! 🪲🦋🎨

Four watercolor Sticky Caps affixed to a piece of cardboard cut into the shape of leaves and labeled "it's a paint bug's life!" Each individual cap is also labeled: a shiny green ("Beetle"), a medium yellow ("Yellow Jacket"), a bright orange-red ("Assassin"), and a medium blue ("Blue Morpho"). Another piece of cardboard is cut into the shape of a beetle and painted green using the various watercolors shown.

A packaged set of "Paint Bugs!" watercolors. The package label includes drawings of the four insects that inspired the colors, each one swatched accordingly.

Never forget that Norman Rockwell, debatably the most famous American artist to ever put brush to canvas, was not afraid to show the ugliness along with the good. Having his work/reputation sanitized and trimmed into marketable nostalgia is about American as it gets.

Thank you for making this beautiful, emotional, haunting book. Hello Sunshine is the kind of story that changes you. I wholeheartedly recommend folks read it.

I also want to point out the tasteful spot gloss on the cover. A+ design ❤️

Closer to the viewer and hidden by red and orange flowers, another teen sleeps while demonic hands begin to wrap around him. Next to the comic, a gray kitty is sleeping in an eerily similar pose to the sleeping teen boy. You can't tell in the photo, but the title, the author's name, and the centers of the red and orange flowers (which resemble eyeballs) all have a spot gloss on them to help those elements stand out.
