Eight years ago, we wrote the Indivisible Guide to organizing locally to pressure Congress and block the Trump agenda.

Now, we’re offering our best advice on how everyday people can organize to stop Trump 2.0: indivisible.org/guide

A thing I can feel a little joy about!
Hi everyone.

The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars.

We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website.

We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off.

I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.
The Onion Buys Alex Jones’s Infowars Out of Bankruptcy
The satirical news site planned to turn Infowars into a parody of itself, mocking “weird internet personalities” who peddle conspiracy theories and health supplements.

Quite liked this analogy
Who remembers the name Jim Fixx? Jim Fixx wrote The Complete Book of Running. It came out in 1977 and really helped make running popular.

In 1984, at the age of 52, while out for a run, Jim Fixx died of a heart attack.

A lot of people who have heard of him like to point that out. But…

This thread is the Sunday morning sermon I didn’t know I needed.
Yesterday I woke to learn that white christian presidential candidate Don Trump had blown his mic stand.

It reminded me of a famous Christian thinker named Jesus H. Christ. You may have heard about him; people often say his name when they see such things.

Excellent little thread 🦠💉🇺🇸
Let's talk about the Founding Fathers and their views on vaccination, and how the technology of disease prevention shaped the Continental Army and newly founded Republic.

Love these nerdy posts! Kaopectate for the win
I NEED you to hear the story of Kaopectate.

It involves African slaves in Georgia, German POW's, and apples.

African slaves in Georgia were documented to eat white clay that is very abundant there, a mineral called kaolin (Al2Si2O5(OH)4), to treat diarrheal disease.

Such a good little thread. One is not the lonliest number
Okay, let's explore Benford's law.

Start with history:
Mathematician Simon Newcomb, 1881, (shown) notices that in a table of logarithms, earlier pages (covering numbers starting '1') are dog-eared and worn, later pages are not.

He asked: "Why are 1's so common at beginning of numbers?"

In my attempt to better understand WTF is happening in the world today I found this beautiful conversation with Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, Simon Schama, and David Gregory. The first question (4 mins) posed was answered in a way I never thought about.

Me too Vincent me too
So instead of giving in to despair I chose active melancholy, in so far as I was capable of activity, in other words I chose the kind of melancholy that hopes, that strives and that seeks, in preference to the melancholy that despairs numbly and in distress.
