More than 75 Nobel Prize winners have signed a letter urging senators not to confirm RFK Jr.

The letter marks the first time in recent memory that Nobel laureates have banded together against a Cabinet choice. But Kennedy is a threat they could not ignore, one said. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/09/h...

Also, the VAST majority of non-govt schools are religious- whether Catholic systemic, minimal Anglican (like a lot of elite schools), "Christian", (as have popped up in many rural areas), evangelical or hardcore Exclusive Bretheren. Why are we outsourcing our ed system to religious organisations?
Both parties have fostered a mentality where public ed should be your last "choice"- a hole-riddled safety net for the undeserving. THere's no sense in Australia of pub ed being a public good, being a place to build social cohesion, to give opportunities to all. That's why nobody fights for it.

This is INSANE. Somehow we have decided as a nation that it's fine to give taxpayer funds to the very richest schools while sabotaging public education. How is this okay? How is this sustainable in any way? www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

I live near an elite private school and seeing their endless taxpayer funded building and grounds projects (new aquatic centre! New performing arts centre! New student art gallery!) while my kids' state high school had to fundraise just to get electrical wiring in the library repaired boils my piss

A reminder that on 30 October 2023, six ex-PMs wrote:

“Israel promises it will do all it can to avoid civilian casualties, we urge it to do so with all of its humanity and skill"

Still waiting for any of them to acknowledge that Israel's "promise" was worthless.

Brereton always defines corruption as typically being engaged in "for a private benefit" which is explicitly NOT what his own Act requires. They even have a clause saying: "Conduct involving a public official may be corrupt conduct even if the conduct is not for the person’s personal benefit."
