WARNING: ANYONE TRYING TO SOLICIT MONEY OUT OF ME WILL BE IMMEDIATELY BLOCKED!

I'm on a fixed income right now, and don't have the mental energy to research every demand for money, so you all get blocked immediately.

ESPECIALLY if you've tagged me!

Fuck off.
With all the work I've been doing on my #fm-radio-project enclosure so far, this Christmas gift I'd received is VERY welcome!

These are the Veritas Pocket Layout Squares, and the small one on the right I'd obtained many years ago, mostly out of curiosity, but the large one on the left is new.

Question time:

Do you prefer your nuts salted or unsalted?

(it's a pity we don't have polls on here yet)

Aw, crud.

I knew I had some darker red Bernat Premium yarn from a past project, and I finally found it last night.

It's a bit too close to brown, but there's WAY more of it, and it should give "vintage Santa hat" vibes. As opposed to the bright red I don't have enough of.

This is a really good point that I had not run into before: these "creators" have no further insight into their alleged creation than the average audience member and that is why it cannot be called art (besides all the other obvious reasons).

Um, huh.

I started pulling yarn out of the center of the large skein I'd just wound last night. Correctly, I should add! I'd pulled from the inside to wrap onto the outside, so it should have been in the same order!

Turns out, its colours are in the reverse order.

Today's task was to take the badly slumping, originally 1kg cake of yarn, and wind it into a new, center-pull skein.

Unfortunately, it turned out to have TWO factory knows (fortunately, ONLY two), so there's a skein in the middle between the blanket and the large skein.

I'm definitely NOT trying to overwhelm the hashtags with this project, but I've made a bit more progress since the last picture, and knit off the DPNs onto a particularly long set of circular needles so I can test-fit it on my head. Fits nicely!

(man, my colour balancing is all over the place)

Yes, this is the same project in both pictures. Definitely different lighting situations.

On the right, when it reached seven inches. On the left, after it reached eight inches, and the first side joined so far.

Hmm. These colours don't *quite* look like they do IRL, as they're looking a little faded here, but they look quite a bit better in person.

My very first hanks of Estelle brand yarn, in DK. The colours are "Merlot" (the red) and "Heather Evergreen" (the green).

Pictures are coming later, but it turned out to have TWO factory knots. Not all that far apart, either.

I've wound all the yet-to-be-used yarn into two center-pull balls for ease of use, and wrapped the label around the much larger one. Should stay nicely in place that way!

Interestingly, the top sections on this blanket have separated into "warm" and "cool" tone halves. Absolutely random. Very curious to see how it'll look when I start decreasing, too.

And since it's over 520 grams, I need to start decreasing NOW! Woot!

Huh, okay, I have a picture of the three unique colours, but not photographic evidence of the second ball of red yarn.

Oh well. Here's the colours I'll be making my Star Trek: Lower Decks uniform cardigan out of, once I'm finished the projects in between now and then:

Darn false memories. I could have *sworn* that I'd posted a picture of the two pounds of red, one pound of white, and one pound of black yarn I'd bought to make the upcoming Lower Decks uniform cardigan project.

Apparently not.

I wore my zippered cardigan under this rain coat on my way to and from the Sunday library, and it worked well enough to keep me warm. Though it seems I should have worn a warmer scarf under it.

Not the *best* coat I've ever had, but not bad enough to wear something else on Tuesday for yarn night.
When you're shopping at the Mart-Wall for Christmas presents and find a London Fog coat on clearance, you *definitely* buy it.

I have two lovely London Fog fedoras that have lasted me very nicely, so I'm hoping this does too.

It's a nice brown coat, and in medium, to boot! Fits very nicely!

Made enough progress on this today to get up to the six-inch mark. One or two more inches, depending on whether I want it seven inches or the full eight, or three and a half to four once I fold it over like I'm planning.

Also, I've been thinking about how to join the ends...

The ribbing is now four inches long, and if I want to fold it in half and stitch both ends together, given how tall this section of the iconic Santa hat usually sits, it needs to be at LEAST seven inches tall. Maybe eight.

And I'm only about halfway there so far...

The panels on either side of the central panel (which can be appropriately called the speaker panels), have finally been screwed down tight!

Though I have no idea how much that one screw being offset is going to bug me in the future. Whoops...

Darn. Just did a bunch of photo reference for Santa-style hats, and the band at the bottom is QUITE thick.

I was trying to avoid doing about seven inches of ribbing (folded in half down to three and a half inches?), but it seems it's necessary.

Gotta keep going, apparently...

I had the idea to knit a Santa hat out of yarn I should already have in my stash. Unfortunately, it turns out I don't have enough *white* yarn, but I do have a bunch of this cream.

Should work well enough, if I can match a nice red to it. Very excited to see this completed!

Crud. Just tried this in haste after the rain stopped and failed.

I'd set up a couple of lights in the dark of the backyard, and tried holding both the drill holding this bit AND the box, to terrible effect.

The plywood I'm trying to cut flush is the same thickness as the opening in the bit...

Despite the estimated arrival date of January 13th, this arrived just today. Came all the way from Ontario, crossing nearly the entire country.

And the packaging is far, FAR more professional than I'd expected, given its $6 price tag. Definitely going to keep this package!

Much as it really does look nice like this, I think I messed up by taking the protective wrap off the acrylic sheets before I was finished working on it.

As I wrote the above, I realized how I could mark out the holes to punch in the corners. Lightly-adhesive labels!
