Speaking of voice actors, I’d held off on looking it up just because I had a hunch, but I’m SO pleased to see that they brought the same voice actors on from FF7 Remake and Rebirth to voice Cloud and Aerith (though she’s in a British accent! :D)

That was actually where I got my “Tatsuya is a myth” joke from - he came by the booth during the time when I went wandering a while, so it felt very much like a “ohhh, you just missed him” bit.

I wasn’t really giving him leeway - there just wasn’t much to go on. He was an incredibly mild guy, pretty quiet overall. And again, back then, his comic was still in its “not fucking weird” phase, so he was just this other cartoonist who drew well, pretty much.

I love that another Final Fantasy Tactics game means I get to bust out the “everyone throw rocks at each other to gain JP” power leveling routine. :)

I honestly can’t imagine how I ever played without spending a battle or two farming JP.

His voice acting in this is SO PITCH PERFECT though. Especially all of his lines at Ziekden.

(And to be fair, Jessie Gender was one of the folks I was arguing with about the Vulcan episode, and who was in those same posts talking about how great Captain Angel was, so…)

Then, this season, on the Four and a Half Vulcans episode, those same people were BESIDE themselves about how awful a silly episode about folks turning into Vulcans was, linked to eugenics and whatnot, and like… FINE, you can read it that way, but *gestures wildly at Captain Angel*

And then over the course of the next week all I saw online were trans people ABSOLUTELY FALLING OVER THEMSELVES to rave about how great it was, and oh yeah this is fantastic, and I’m sitting here like “Okay but YOU SEE HOW THIS MAYBE ISN’T GREAT RIGHT?!”

The whole situation with Captain Angel frustrated me so much, because YES, she absolutely KILLED the role, and yes, it was a solid villain IN ISOLATION.

But the first thing I thought was “Christ, this is 100% a parallel for the ‘deceitful trans person’ narrative.” Liz thought the same thing.
