It's only just occurring to me now but I think Firefly is an interesting example of a show that is in the Gunstar Heroes Zone™
One of my hottest takes but: Firefly is overrated by some people because the cast chemistry was so good they overlooked/memory holed the major flaws in the story/world. It was also pretty niche except in specific nerd spaces.
You know, Firefly was the actual sci-fi property that was huge, but had no real cultural impact.
Like, Firefly was synonymous with 2000's nerd culture, and you never hear anything about it now. Even Nathan Fillon is now more famous for other stuff.

Interestingly, I've seen a lot of doubling down on this lately with this "w.. well you have to admit the damn wokes were out of control!" narrative from your Joe Rogan/ south park guys and I just want to say this definitely isn't going to work and you are definitely not saving face here
im sorry but we just spent the last decade being told the biggest issues were pronouns in emails and a trans kid playing jv lacrosse

Currently high and watching the star wars prequels with Mrs F, we're now watching episode 1 and I'm reminded of how that naboo starfighter was hidden in rogue squadron for the n64 and nobody knew about it for quite a while

The currently viral conservative dog killing thing is morbidly interesting to me - I have known a few of these types in my life and it's very bizarre, it always seems to me they are shooting dogs as this sort of performative affectation, pretending to have this hardscrabble life -

One of those gaming curiosities I always found really interesting is that we had this brief period in the mid 90s where top down & isometric third person shooters got very popular and oversaturated the market in the same way we are seeing with roguelites now
