If you're watching the situation in Chicago from afar & want to help, on the off chance you have spare $$, you can give to the Midwest Immigrant Bond Fund, which posts "bond for individuals held in the custody of ICE w ties to IL, IN, KY & WI who cannot afford to pay"

The whole reason acetaminophen is the only approved pain/fever med during pregnancy is because it's the safest. Safer than untreated fever which we -know- causes harm to the fetus and pregnant person. Pharmacists & docs are already dealing with the fallout from this dogshit "advice".

Trump: “don’t take Tylenol when you’re pregnant. And when the baby is born, don’t give it Tylenol if you can avoid it at all. Just don’t give it Tylenol. Really what to you have to lose?”

1. Oh my god lawsuit 2. Untreated fever in pregnancy can result in miscarriage and fetal anomalies

What if instead of clickers the last of us just had alot of bigots?

God if the outcome of all this is a discovery that a specific type of black mold makes you a weird bigot I'm gonna have a hearty chuckle then fill my pockets with stones and walk into a lake. We are now living in the mold age. The mildew years. The roaring fungis.
kaseygifford.bsky.social
Suuuure it's the "molds" fault. Whats next, a very specific strain of mold that turns children's book authors into raging terfs?

And I want to be clear; this is about consequences, not revenge. The latter is a toxic cycle. The former is important for progress and learning from horrifying atrocities.

This makes me think this is a big part of why they're going after her, among other things. She has stood up for SA victims and they hate that.

Worth noting in part due to the prevalence of assault & abuse in the highest realms of power right now: I will never, ever forget James is one of the few to *ever* hold anyone to account in the wake of #MeToo. From my book Burn It Down, what AG James & her office did regarding CBS & Les Moonves:
From Maureen Ryan's book Burn It Down: More fodder for that argument came in late 2022 from New York Attorney
General Letitia James, whose office announced a $30.5 million
settlement in relation to a series of #MeToo-related
cover-ups
emanating
from the highest levels of CBS. After being tipped off by a Los Angeles
Police Department captain about sexual assault allegations filed
against then-CEO
Leslie Moonves, the network’s executives, including
Moonves, worked in 2017 and 2018 “to prevent the complaint from
becoming public,” the AG’s office noted. This is infuriatingly ironic,
given that CBS made a fortune from crime procedurals that tended to
condemn, if not vilify, anyone who broke the law. But we’ve all seen
enough to know that the rule of law and the imperatives of commonsense
decency are frequently disregarded when it comes to powerful
industry figures.
“CBS and its senior leadership knew about multiple allegations of sexual assault made against Mr. Moonves and intentionally concealed
those allegations from regulators, shareholders, and the public
for months,” James said in a statement, adding that “CBS and Leslie
Moonves’ attempts to silence victims, lie to the public, and mislead
investors can only be described as reprehensible.” According to the settlement
agreement, at an industry event in November 2017—the day
Matt Lauer was fired from NBC, in fact—Moonves
declared, “There’s
a lot we didn’t know.” I thought I detected a note of lawyerly fury in
the next sentences of the legal document James’s office made public
November 2, 2022: “That statement was misleading as it implied that
Moonves and CBS were just learning of problems with workplace harassment
at CBS, when, in truth, Moonves and other top CBS executives
were actively seeking to conceal and suppress allegations” about
Moonves himself.

Independent comics as an industry would barely exist these days without the tireless efforts of Kickstarter's staff behind the scenes. As they advise, keep supporting all the amazing projects you already are, but have their back in the process.

Fair pay for our lowest-paid workers.
We're fighting for livable minimum salaries for roles that are undervalued by the market but crucial to keeping Kickstarter running. We believe none of our workers should struggle to make ends meet. Creators

I’ve been thinking for so long that we desperately need to build a bridge between America and Saudi Arabia, it’s the most pressing thing I can think of these days. I wish someone would be brave enough to do it. If such heroes exist, they deserve to be handsomely rewarded!

My book outlines and notes, not to mention my re-reading of my own work, would apparently blow this person's mind.

monsterteatime.bsky.social
...have they never heard of re-reading your own work? Or note taking? Good grief.

I think if any Dem said this they'd find themselves absolutely drowning in support. It has to MATTER that this is happening and that we won't just pretend it's over and move on. Because that is literally how we got here. Again.
dethveggie.bsky.social
Exactly. I want Democratic leadership that are openly letting us know that if/when the clock turns, there will be Nuremberg Trials for the fascists that have taken control of this country.
elienyc.bsky.social
Be nice if any single national Democrat promised to hold these fuckwads accountable for malicious prosecution should the wheel ever turn around.

But, whatever. Everybody who opposes Trump will just have to weather this bullshit.

Tbf I don't really consider anyone in this admin to be legitimately appointed because working for that guy as all of this goes down is in direct violation of the Constitution. YMMV.

It's a lot like how LAPD was shockingly supportive* of protestors here a few months ago and even said they were peaceful. That was LAPD. They are not exactly known for being pro protestor. *I personally think they were being mostly territorial about who gets to hit protestors here.
monsterteatime.bsky.social
It was like when LAPD here was like "no, the protestors are fine and we don't need any help, it's non-violent". I felt like I'd steppe into another timeline.
monsterteatime.bsky.social
I read the police chief's report on this, it is extremely critical of ICE and was VERY specific about all the instances of chemical weapons. I've rarely seen cops be that deliberately and clearly anti force in writing.
djbyrnes1.bsky.social
Perry cites the Broadview police force on its opinion of federal agents' use of chemical weapons against protestors, saying the BPD believes that this use of chemical weapons has been "indiscriminate."

The thing that most people don't realize is that the deportation machine was already operating at capacity. No one, ever, was just allowing millions of undocumented immigrants into the country willy-nilly. That was mythology. The process to get legal status in this country is already a very high bar
richburroughs.dev
The first numbers in this blew my mind.

ICE made 100k arrests from January to June, which was double the same period last year. The shocking part to me is that it was only double, though. I certainly didn’t know they arrested so many people under Biden.

Warning, this is extremely traumatic to watch & hear. You can hear her and I think children screaming. This is a huge group of masked men dragging a MOTHER from her car before picking her kids up from school. She speaks to the camera in a huge show of bravery. I can't.
collincountydems.bsky.social
This is terrifying!

ICE breaks into this woman’s car in the pick-up line at West Loop Elementary school in Chicago and detains her before she can pick her kids up from school. (They were eventually let go after showing their documents)

This is Trump’s America.

Hey, if you see me at NYCC this weekend PLEASE do me a favor & introduce yourself if we've never met in person, even if you think I know who you are. I am terrible with faces (especially if we only know each other online), but never forget a name. I appreciate you understanding. I know. I'm awful.

I was definitely supposed to be some kind of cozy cottage bogwitch type who made random arts & crafts and told the kids spooky stories with hopeful endings over tea and good treats. My only actual dream for $$ is a cozy home somewhere quiet & helping friends make art.
