Going to do that thing where I reshare a piece of writing I'm immensely proud of — thank you to everyone who has already offered such kind words and/or shared this elsewhere. 🫶

Way before #AlienEarth even premiered, I landed a dream assignment: talking with Timothy Olyphant about everything from lessons learned on #Deadwood with David Milch to the TV storytelling pitfall he hates the most to breaking down tonight's finale (spoilers are toward the end):
Timothy Olyphant Isn't Interested in Repeating Himself
From Deadwood to Alien: Earth, Timothy Olyphant opens up about acting risks, career reinvention, and the storytellers who still guide him.

Penny Dreadful your legacy remains unmatched

I loved Penny Dreadful because other "prestige" TV series would be centered around the drama of rich dudes and PD would be on its own like "Frankenstein's monster gets a crying monologue. Eva Green writhes around on a table during a séance. Dorian Gray and the Wolfman make out for a while."

It's no exaggeration to say that it's joy and a privilege to get to write about good TV, and writing about IWTV has unquestionably made me a better reviewer.
carlylane.bsky.social
Some of my personal favorite review writing has been about Interview with the Vampire, so now feels like the perfect time to re-boost this one with #IWTV S2 finally dropping on Netflix:
'Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire' Season 2 Review: A Gloriously Tangled and Compelling Part Two
Season 2 premieres May 12 on AMC and AMC+.

The @nytimes.com asked me to write about the 20th anniversary (??!) of Twilight, and to recommend some books that have published since then that Twilight folks might love.

Oh, this was SO FUN.
‘Twilight’ Is 20. These Books Will Remind You Why You Loved It So Much.
