There's this road called Power Creek in my hometown. It's a narrow dirt road and the potholes make for a slow bumpy ride. But I drive it anyway, just to see the color of this icy river.

It's salmonberry season in Alaska. You won't find these gems in a store, which makes this time of year more special. These berries come in ruby red, dark red, and orange. They make good jelly and there's a Jell-O pie recipe they are good for.

I rarely like anything I paint. As simple as watercolor may seem, the technique is difficult for me because I lean toward bold colors and thick lines. I tried to keep it light on this one though, and I think it looks better than most of my pieces.

When I come to Alaska to work in the summer I bring a stack of books with me. Only the best of the best return to Washington to live in my home library. The book is 100% coming back with me.

Someone call the cuteness police, we have a criminal. He came up in our shrimp pot this afternoon and committed the crime of being too cute. Look at his little pose, a born model. I released him back to the Pacific to live his crab life.
