Yes, I don't know why the word soccer fell out of favour here, but it did. Weirdly there is a UK charity called Soccer Aid. The Aussies still call their football team the Socceroos and use soccer for the game itself.

I am a football fan, I have been since I was a child in the 1960s, so don't try and patronise me. Also League is an offshoot of Union. It arose in 1895 after a split from the RFU over arguments about paying players.

I think that Emery has a massive grudge and wants to keep on proving (in his mind) that Arsenal was wrong to sack him. I think he's done brilliantly at Villa but also that he was the wrong man for us.

OK, this is my opinion here. The colour of your skin is absolutely irrelevant to your nationality, and that also goes for your sexuality or expression of gender. We are all just people and we all deserve the same level of respect. All other views are wrong.

Soccer and Rugger are words that used to be used much more widely in the UK. Rugger, a.k.a Rugby also involves an egg-shaped ball, but it also has a lot more kicking than Gridiron and also a lot more passing, what the NFL calls lateral passing. There is also Rugby League, an offshoot of Rugby Union
