December 10, 2025 at 12:07 AM

Question for Mr. Bradford if he would meet with them to learn about measures to reduce bird collisions with new hotel. This #1 cause of bird deaths. Bradford says happy to meet and learn.
December 10, 2025 at 12:04 AM
Comment: Detroit is a major migration path for many bird species. Thanks to U of M for listening to bird safety concerns when designing Innovation Center.
December 10, 2025 at 12:03 AM
Answer: Development in Detroit is difficult. Want to do it in a way that honors the community. Goal is to build, but availability of labor and materials is hard. Also, the UM Innovation Center is building from the ground up and will change skyline and link with Ann Arbor. This is huge accomplishment
December 10, 2025 at 12:01 AM
First question: Why are more of these developments not off the ground? It seems like small developers across the midwest can actually build projects, but Detroit waits for large developments and they take forever. We were listening to impending hotel announcement at last yrs mtg.

Moving to virtual questions.
December 9, 2025 at 11:59 PM
Also have connections to the jobs which show different skills-- engineering to change from ice to hardwood at Little Caesars Arena, for example. Lots of thought goes into how to get Detroit young people successful in long-term careers.
December 9, 2025 at 11:57 PM
Follow-up: Are these entries into actual careers and not just low-end jobs? Answer: Yes, there is a new program in partnership with Fox Theater which will connect dots between music careers.
December 9, 2025 at 11:57 PM
Question: What about partnerships with Detroit School of the Arts and other schools? Answer: Very close to DPSCD and make a lot of contributions to the foundation and the district. Have internship program for Detroit students across all of the businesses.
December 9, 2025 at 11:54 PM
Answer: This is not one of the 10 projects. Olympia says that it is not on the list of what they are thinking about, but appreciate the idea, because this is also entertainment.
December 9, 2025 at 11:51 PM
Question: Can we get a downtown movie theater like we used to have in the Ren Cen?
December 9, 2025 at 11:50 PM
Question about the big hotel announcement which is coming. How are they deciding the hotel? Answer: They are in conversation with different hotels about their philosophy to see which one matches developers' philosophy.
December 9, 2025 at 11:50 PM
Also, concerned about traffic situation in front of the Innovation Center across from Beacon Park because Grand River is very wide here. This could lead to fatalities.
December 9, 2025 at 11:45 PM
Next commenter is an Uber driver. Sometimes Uber app tells him to pick people up in front of the proposed hotel site but this is blocked off by police after events. So better communication with app or police, please? Also, timeline for The American and the new hotel?
December 9, 2025 at 11:44 PM
First commenter asking about traffic updates. Really horrible traffic problems at Charlotte crosswalk and Temple intersection. Answer: MDOT just met to remark Temple intersection. Light at Temple intersection is scheduled for 5-7 months out.

(Also can submit comment cards directly to Olympia Development or the city.)
December 9, 2025 at 11:41 PM
Next part on the agenda is general questions from people who are not on the NAC. (The last questions were from the NAC.) Next questions can be on comment cards from the audience, from a line-up of audience members, or from the Q&A for online attendees. Every commenter will have 2 minutes.
December 9, 2025 at 11:40 PM
What progress is being made on commitments to Brush Park improvement and Cass Tech Park study? Answer: Each benefit is tied to the start of construction of a specific building. Cass Tech Park is tied to The American. When The American development starts, park contribution will start.
