PS:
Oh and extra touch: Ukraine should legislate that American companies are *prohibited* from benefitting from Ukraine's resources.
You help, you deserve.
You betray, you don't deserve.

By being ultra-strong this way, we also maximise the probability of Trump being overthrown. What remains of honourable sentiment in the American population will be energised.
Worst case, America remains hostile... but that's already what we have now.

The U.S. probably then betrays all of Europe completely and openly, but we'll be able to hold our heads high and look at everyone in the eye.
Fact is, we can deter Russia with our existing nuclear weapons, and together with Ukraine, we can defeat Russia conventionally.

We should seize the RU assets of course and give the money to Ukraine.
And design a whole new European way of war partly based on Ukrainian forces and Ukrainian experience.

We'd need, then, for European states to back this, to back a new line demanding clear and substantial concessions from Moscow. Not in exchange for anything, but as an instruction to Moscow. European aid to UA & sanctions against RU not negotiable, they stay in place long-term.
