Republicans as a whole have become hostile not just to Ukraine but also to European security, to America's traditional alliances and commitments, and to very elementary notions of honour and decency in international affairs. They will support other pro-Moscow crimes and betrayals.

We Europeans are praying for the Ukrainians to do incredible things, to stay in the fight and indeed to be successful in spite of America's betrayal, relying just on themselves, their equipment, and the equipment and intel that we Europeans can still give them.

Oh and extra touch: Ukraine should legislate that American companies are *prohibited* from benefitting from Ukraine's resources.

By being ultra-strong this way, we also maximise the probability of Trump being overthrown. What remains of honourable sentiment in the American population will be energised.
Worst case, America remains hostile... but that's already what we have now.

The U.S. probably then betrays all of Europe completely and openly, but we'll be able to hold our heads high and look at everyone in the eye.
Fact is, we can deter Russia with our existing nuclear weapons, and together with Ukraine, we can defeat Russia conventionally.

We should seize the RU assets of course and give the money to Ukraine.
And design a whole new European way of war partly based on Ukrainian forces and Ukrainian experience.

We'd need, then, for European states to back this, to back a new line demanding clear and substantial concessions from Moscow. Not in exchange for anything, but as an instruction to Moscow. European aid to UA & sanctions against RU not negotiable, they stay in place long-term.

Hard choices ahead.
Morally speaking, the most satisfying would be for Ukraine, preferably with a coalition of friendly states, to reject the role of the United States in any future negotiations. Explain that the U.S. is not a trustworthy partner due to its use of deception and blackmail.
The forced surrender terms are now clearer:

Trump wants:
- The minerals deal
- Ukraine accepts loss of territory
- Elections in Ukraine
- Zelensky steps down

This is rewarding Putin while making money out of the misery of the country Putin attacks.

Trump wants to see more than just a minerals deal to restart aid and intel to Ukraine
U.S. and Ukrainian officials are set to meet in Saudi Arabia this week, with Trump focused on Zelenskyy’s willingness to make concessions in negotiations.

So true. No reason to dispair.

Long term it’s gonna cost 🇺🇸 more than even the biggest trade war.

Divorces are messy. But a marriage in which your spouse isn't clear about protecting you from a serial killer - a serial killer which your spouse also has lots of phone calls with - is not a "good deal".
The Trump administration makes clear that ongoing US policy isn't simply about the F35. Depriving 🇺🇦 of IMINT & ISR, withholding ECMs from 🇺🇦 F-16s, blocking Gripen sales to Colombia...tend to indicate that it's unwise to rely on Patriot if you can produce SAMP T or on Starlink if Eutelsat can do it
We need to slow down this rush to decouple from us mil tech. Focus on only f35 misguided. Lots of eur industrial participation. 2) nasam, patriot, standard missiles on frigates, p-8: lots of us mil tech. Us industrial interests huge. Provides Leverage
