Exactly! We figured we were better off having the best policy now to guide us into a healthier old age. We can always go with a cheaper policy later if we need to. But, we aren’t stuck.

I do understand. It is because of the ACA that my husband was able to retire when he did.

When he retired from a top US computer company, he was offered the “benefit” of their retirement medical plan for $20,000+ a year. He laughed and said he could do better in the open market.

Very much so. And, most opt for the Medicare Advantage supplement because it’s cheaper. But, they are notorious for denying coverage and making patients appeal for reimbursement. It also ties you to networks which may make it harder to get the treatment you need.

There is also a prescription part. We don’t have many prescriptions, so we went with the cheapest.

Medicare doesn’t cover all hospital costs and no long term hospital care.

We desperately need to get the for-profit motive out of healthcare.

My husband and I pay $4,440 for Medicare (Part B) and $3,600 for an expensive supplement which allows us to go to any doctor or hospital since we travel a lot in country.

We need something better than Medicare. We need to get rid of the for-profit system which gives our money to stockholders.

As a kid, I lived on Stones River in Middle TN. We would disappear in the morning and play in and along the river. My brother and his friends caught venomous snakes as 4th graders. I don’t know how we survived, but we did. We knew to be home for dinner or “else.” Oh, and I watched Dark Shadows.

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.
