Didn't he become a Trumper recently?!

I read that as "Dallas/Fort Worth" at first and had to look it up.

My mom recently retired and I wonder if she would have stayed teaching longer if she saw more students that she knew? how to teach or her health was better. That being said, that first part rests on her being a conservative Catholic in a highly liberal field which... is doing a lot of heavy lifting

Detaching my post because it wasn't meant to be exactly literal and I'm happy to just delete it if it's going to be taken that way or will cause an issue

I will say that "the kids are dumb and lazy" was meant to be an exaggeration and not an actual thing one should say. "I gave the syllabus, expectations, and grading system and the student accepted them but did not attend class or turn in assignments."

I've seen it roughly five times and can't tell you the plot of it! And three of those were before smart phones!

A friend of mine has complained about showing a friend the movie Blade Runner, and she was on her phone the ENTIRE time and afterwards said she hated it and it made no sense.

which is a deviation from the MGM movie. McG's book, though, does have a character that feels criminally underused in that sense, where she could have stepped into that role but instead she just kinda hovers around the edges of the story until the third book.

ooh, he blocked me!!!! And he still doesn't know what a parable is!
November 29, 2025 at 3:12 PM
I haven't mocked or belittled you, but I'm certainly willing to start if you don't find another line of thought to engage with.
November 29, 2025 at 3:02 PM
... why do I even need a coherent and brilliant thesis? My point has been that the Christian understanding of Jesus attacking people in the Temple is greatly misunderstood and misapplied to bad results and I've repeatedly discussed the historical context for that.
November 29, 2025 at 3:02 PM
I've said this before and I'm gonna repeat myself, but no one is saying there's only one interpretation. I have no idea where you're getting this from and it feels like it's coming from the three cues thing running around about reading only a few words and making up the rest.

Some folks are saying that if you fail too many folks at a non ...ivy? prestigious? Something? school that you get yourself called up to the admin to explain why and the implication is "the kids are dumb and lazy" isn't an acceptable answer.
November 29, 2025 at 2:15 PM
I've been seeing more people complain about this and it makes no sense
November 29, 2025 at 2:13 PM
I don't think it's a can of worms and flattening it does the historical account a disservice. Not all political appointments, even under the modern US admin, are done with the same level of malice, greed, and incompetence

It really depends on the office and the local regional priesthood being governed by a local priest that Rome chose is a very different set up than a foreign governor overseeing a province due to his place on the cursus honorum
November 29, 2025 at 2:10 PM
Served at the leisure of and enriching themselves to serve Rome are two different statements
November 29, 2025 at 1:45 PM
So there's absolutely no evidence that the Jewish priesthood was enriching themselves to sell out to Rome, especially since the Temple was pretty prone to being sacked and Jerusalem was under occupation. So, no, we can't interpret that one instance in that way
November 29, 2025 at 1:30 PM
Well, for one thing, I'm not saying there's one interpretation
November 29, 2025 at 1:25 PM
You made a big deal about being taught by the Franciscans and if you seriously came out of that without an understanding of what, exactly, a parable is, then either they didn't teach you well or you weren't listening
