its a really effective way to work! I did that for my covers at DC/IDW and it saved so much time, but man i'd just have such a great time doing it all on the paper if it wasn't for the damn time restrictions

ooh, now that's fascinating! I've tried a couple different digital/traditional hybrid methods before on covers to decent success, but man the feeling of doing it all on paper and not having to stare at a screen for so long is SO nice!

its so much more satisfying for me to use traditional tools, and i just prefer the inconsistency and organic nature of traditional art. it adds so much life to pictures

spent all day yesterday and today inking/painting traditionally, it feels so much better. i need to find a way to transition to traditional for work, im just so slow with them.

EXACTLY!

i get why it happens, i understand very well how painful and limiting the time constraints are in comics as an industry. Having the industry side of comics so negatively impact the actual art form itself with such shallow shortcuts feels so terrible.
