10 years ago, Hollywood tried to cancel me because of my support for Black Lives Matter before it was cool to do so. Thank G-d for Tyler Perry who kept putting my music in his films. He is a force of good in this world.

The number of people who think I’m just paranoid about right wing governments going full fascist has dropped to less than 10% of what it was 10 years ago. I’m not a prophet. Many of us could see it back then. I just spoke up about it when others wouldn’t.

Since Facebook has gone full MAGA, it’s probably best not to use Messenger for any sensitive or overly political content. Expect everything you write there to be handed over to authorities, with or without cause.

Through my activism, I’ve realized it’s organizing, not public protesting, that forces lawmakers to act. So I’m not alarmed that people aren’t in the streets (yet). The most effective resistance isn’t en masse, but underground—and it starts in communities.
