I haven’t got the Finches Friend window feeder, but I have got a different model on a north facing window. It is near a small tree and very popular with my local Blue Tits. Most of the time they grab a seed and fly off, but sometimes they will sit for a while. Lovely to see them.

I have that same feeder and hardly get any interest. My Finches Friend sunflower feeder, however, gets more action!

What were your #Top5Birds or bird moments from the past week?

Mine:
1. Close views of a Buzzard on the verge as I drove by
2. Rooks and Jackdaws flying to their roost
3. Blue Tit bathing in the birdbath
4. Long-tailed Tits calling in the garden
5. Jays calling, looking for acorns

The Common Buzzard is a large raptor with yellow feet and a yellow base on a grey bill. Plumage is variable, some birds are dark brown, and others are much paler. They have broad wings and usually show a pale breast band.

It’s the 1st of October! Here in Hampshire it’s a calm and cloudy morning.

The first bird I heard was a Robin, singing in the darkness.
The first bird I saw was a Woodpigeon sitting on the fence.

What was your 1st bird of the month?

Mine:
1. Robin singing in my garden each morning
2. Woodpigeon comically trying to bathe in a tiny plant saucer
3. 1st Blackbird seen since the start of August
4. 2 Great White Egrets with 4 Little Egrets
5. Lots of Stonechats

1. Lucky spot of a flying Glossy Ibis
2. Kingfisher speeding past the hide
3. Sparrowhawk tussling with a Magpie
4. Curlew Sandpiper
5. Single Sanderling feeding with Turnstones

It’s the 1st of September! Here in Hampshire it’s a calm and sunny morning.

The 1st bird I heard was a Magpie, making a loud warning call.
It was also the 1st bird I saw (I looked out to see the reason for the noise! I couldn’t pinpoint any threat, though)
