Smokes and mirrors ! Nice ! The good thing is that you can have better control and fewer artifacts than using a shader. Doing some wacky syuff with shorelines UV should be easier !

Indeed, the 2 planar noise interpolation will work as well. I might try to code a quick proof of concept when i'll have time.

Sure ! It's the less power hungry. In-situ 3D noises are nice but require more computation. The billboard trick I've mentioned is using 3D noises, too, but with the advantage of only using a quad to fake it all (and alpha scissors). Then, it's a matter of choosing computation over storage.

Can't see the subtree, but are you using a 3D geometry (like a geosphere along with a shader) or the billboard trick with a raycasting fragment shader ?

Btw, i've checked in the Godot source code if it was possible to go beyond the max of 2.0 for "Scaling 3D Scale" property. Unfortunately, as for now, it's not possible (rendering_viewport.cpp) :

Oh I know the feeling. I've deleted "The Last Caretaker" two days ago ... and yesterday, i've reinstalled it ! ... The game is really grindy and time sinking, but i like the atmosphere ...
Nevertheless, I think one need more discipline to stay focused and determine why there's a need to play ;p
