The two details I remember about the play are that the Canucks won in Game 7 despite the Rangers bribing the refs, and I played Pavel Bure (I think my Russian accent was not quite as good as Connor Storrie's ...)

Agreed, I think choosing not to drop all the episodes at once is increasing engagement! (I am very impatient despite having read the books and knowing what will happen haha)

Perhaps I will use some of my non-existent free time to write a barbershop AU of Heated Rivalry, bring what I want to see into the world

the barbershop AU should become a fandom staple, because they build such an intimate relationship -- years singing together, learning to listen to each other, working your way towards the pinnacle of success (there's a big int'l competition each year), and sometimes there's quartet drama (2/2)

It's, uh, barbershop quartets? Specifically two Swedish barbershop quartets haha (this is the vibe: www.tiktok.com/@lsquartet/v...) I actually don't really want fics about them b/c it would be RPF about people who aren't famous (outside a very niche circle) BUT I think (1/2)

And something that has its roots in fandom too which is fun! I am pleased … I’ve spent the last couple months obsessed with something that I think *should* have a fandom but doesn’t (there’s literally one fic about it) so this is a nice change

I think this is the first time I’ve seen a fandom take off in real time! I was late to the start of MDZS (and years late to YOI haha)

However HR is right up my alley (and apparently a significant swathe of fandom's alley, based on how many fics I've seen racking up 2000+ kudos in a few days)

I watched so much hockey when I was younger (I've told this story before but the first 'fanfiction' I ever wrote was an AU play about the Vancouver Canucks winning the Stanley Cup, after they lost to NY in '94, I was 11) but now the games are too long and clash with family life, sigh
