There are quite a few pubs vying for the top spot of London's oldest public house. But, after digging into their history, it turns out only two can back it up with evidence. 🍺

It seems to be this week's historical building theme - tin tabernacle churches. This time, the church is in Scotland and, if you have the funds and inclination, you can buy it as it's up for sale! ⛪

The Former Free Church in Skerray has gone on the market. It's a little "tin tabernacle" church, constructed by the local Free Church congregation in 1903 after they left their building in Strathy when it became a United Free Church.

SAVE's Building of the Month deserves a mention.

Increasingly rare, this is a charming, unlisted late 19th-century tin church, nestled in woodland in Sherfield English, Hampshire, just waiting for a new job. Let's hope it finds one soon! ⛪

This seems to be an accepted solution to get rid of a pesky heritage building issue by unscrupulous developers. We need to see far more of the 'rebuild at your own cost' restorative justice to stop this happening even more.

Our director JT visited Wells Cathedral with Cliveden Conservation and Nick Cox Architects. Pioneering mortar repairs carried out in the 80s and 90s were found to have faired really well, but much of the sculpture needs further repairs.
