I have never been in the interior of Pugin's St Mary's Catholic Church until now. It is astonishing; the smell of candles and incense massively comforting. Four candles lit for the ill and the lost. #tinyjoys

Watching the snow in the silence, it's possible for a second to forget that everything is fucked.

Hope you all have a happy Christmas, one and all. I'm signing off for a few days to see family and do a bit of this.

Also enhanced by rereading the copy I read when I was about 14 and clearly stolen from my dad's bookcase. It was 4/6.

Just given notice on my rental of ten years. It's a lot at a time of officially 'a lot'. Very glad to be moving into our own place and will be happy not to have to deal with many things, but I will miss a lot, especially the yard.

So much to do and finish this weekend, but the cat and I are starting with the same energy.

Latest from the printing class: female blackbird sunning herself in etching and aquatint.
September 17, 2025 at 7:47 PM
Current process - have etched the outlines and halfway through the aquatints. Next week this print will look dramatically different. It teaches patience.

This blackbird sunning itself will be tried out with several etching processes and it's genuinely soul-enriching.

Depressed cat asks for cessation in writing history no-one cares about except me.

My last print in my introduction to printing course: chicks in screen print. Note to academics going through all the things. Do something that's not university related once in a while.

Ouch

My angry bird prints are dry. I kind of love them.

My husband doesn't think I should throw this away. My take is that this place was definitely not my happy place, that I disliked more people on this photo than I liked and have much better photos than this of the ones I am still in touch with. Thoughts? Will I regret it?!

Because I am currently committed to sharing the results of my printing night class however terrible they are, please have some angry birds - drawn from life - in drypoint.

Amazing day yesterday in the restored Derby Market Hall. So good to see Derby turn out for the opening and I hope this fantastic opportunity for the city is well-supported.

I just gave a keynote. Don't know how good it was but I do know that I deserve these chips.

Was in an absolutely foul mood today. Stomped across Derby to my night class. Scratched some angry birds into perspex (dry point). You can't really see it here as were printing them next time. Feel 100% better.

It was. And my prints might have been wonky but I was quite proud of my nests.
