This album reminds me of my toddler niece banging her head to it. She loved it. She is now 28.

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.

If you are still awake, take a moment you look up at the moon. Currently untroubled by living humans. Still a place of ghosts, gods and 20th century wreckage.

I know this is uncomfortable to admit, but there is a small area in England's second city where people are just not integrated with the rest of society. Many of them hold views that arguably go against British values.

Yes, we need to talk about the Tory conference in Manchester.

BBC4 is showing a documentary this evening about the work of US Librarians amidst the conservative MAGA onslaught of book banning, censorship and harrassment.

Vital viewing.
A Storyville documentary that explores how librarians across the US are risking their safety to defend free speech as book bans and censorship threaten democracy from within.

As archaeologists we bear witness to the destruction of the natural environment. Up close. In real time. We are entangled in that destruction and it impacts us. A callous and uncaring approach to planning behind Reeve's comments should be sickening to everyone involved in such grave undertakings. 🏺

"Rachel Reeves unblocked a development of 20,000 homes that were being held up by a rare snail, after being approached by a developer with whom she said, 'we have a good relationship'

Not only stupid and ignorant, but crooked with it

Indefensible

I have watched so much trash on Netflix 'in the background' - I am now down to a South African reality show about marriage counselling.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

I'm enjoying the warmth of the tributes to Jilly Cooper. I met her a few times, but wouldn't say I knew her. She radiated humanity and fun, and friends who knew her better bear testament to her kindness. Her imprint on this world was entirely benign, and that counts for a lot.

I guess I'm grateful? But, Manchester tax payers, I think there are better things that your money should be spent on rather than tracking me down to give me money.

Today a letter from Manchester City Council addressed to me and my husband randomly came to my mother-in-law. They owe us £81 in Council Tax! I left Manchester ten years ago. Ten years.
