A good example of why direct inflation adjustment of this sort is more deceptive than clarifying when applied over very long stretches of time where consumption patterns are very different.

Basic foods (bread/grain) probably devours a third of Cratchet's income, but not the modern worker's.

I feel like if you had to ban social media for any group of people for their own protection, you should probably start with people over 60.

Yeah, I wonder if it might have been that we had a longer dialling code to get to us, but being about four years old at the time I never needed to know it!

How commonplace were four digit phone numbers? When I was a kid in the Outer Hebrides we had one, but then we got a six digit one when we moved to Kent so I just assumed they were a weird island quirk of some kind…

Watching ‘Melissa’ (1974) and goodness, Peter Barkworth’s phone number is a familiar one. What are the odds eh (he asked, rhetorically)

Any ideas what may have happened in the interim?

The invocation of queerphobia to justify indiscriminately dropping bombs on people - including, inevitably, *queer people* themselves - is so obviously morally bereft that I can't believe it even needs pointing out, especially to supposedly intelligent people.

She’s not wrong as Israel would exterminate them just as Israel exterminates everyone.

It’s the same stupid argument for the past decade. These people think that Queer Palestinians don’t exist, that they’re not also being starved to death and bombed from the skies by that genocidal state.

When you could code silly quizzes on Facebook, it was FULL of "what would you be in medieval times?!" etc.

I made one that nearly always answered "died as a child", "died in childbirth", "lived and died as a servant"

People got SUPER mad with it.

Everyone assumes they'll be at the top of the tree

The subtext of ‘we should be more like Dubai’, beyond the obvious racism, is ‘I should have a servant’.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Just to be clear, an English degree - learning to critically assess texts - is actually one of the most dangerous for people such as Badenoch.

An educated population, able to bring hundreds of years of context to statements in a dawning age of AI slop and attention-seeking dishonesty is also vital.

So, the plan is to cut English, the arts, and sociology - the degrees that actually study culture - while on another part of your platform claiming to “defend” British culture.

It’s performance nationalism with a reading age of seven.

“How to potentially reach Heidi Klum (though not for NFT opinions)” has me wheezing

oh my fucking god I'm wheezing. I was trying to find the tweet where Heidi Klum posted her shitty NFT and asked what people thought of it. I searched 'heidi klum do you like my nft'.

This was the AI resullt.
Screenshot of the google AI overview reading:

AI Overview
Heidi Klum is not available to like or comment on your NFT as she is a public figure and this is a generic request to a search engine. To get a response, you would need to try and contact Heidi Klum directly, but there is no public record of a direct way to submit an NFT for her opinion.
Why you can't ask Heidi Klum directly:

    This is a search engine:
This platform is a tool for finding information, not a person who can directly interact with users in that way.

Public figure:
Heidi Klum is a well-known model and television personality, not a customer service representative for user-submitted content.

How to potentially reach Heidi Klum (though not for NFT opinions):

Social Media: You could try sending a direct message on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) where she has a public profile, but there is no guarantee she will see or respond to it.

If you are interested in NFTs:

There are online communities and forums dedicated to NFTs where you can get opinions from other collectors and enthusiasts.
